SUPERVISOR(S): Red Cliff Fish Company Business Manager

THIS IS A REGULAR FULL-TIME NON-EXEMPT POSITION.

The Production Associate will be trained and educated regarding the schedule, operation, and maintenance of RCFC’s overall operations. As a member of the RCFC team, the Production Associate will be trained and responsible for the full cycle of fish harvest and processing including production floor operations, processing and delivery of fish product to the end user. The Production Associate will be expected to take on a leadership role and may be given supervisory responsibilities as determined by the Business Manager.

Examples of duties

DUTIESANDRESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Along with the Manager(s), provide examples to and act as a role model for other team members in projecting and applying The Red Cliff Fish Company’s mission.
  2. Provide and promote an environment of teamwork and achievement in accomplishing Red Cliff Fish Company’s production and business goals and objectives.
  3. Lead or supervisory role in one or multiple of the three following focal areas—depending on qualifications and experience of applicant and needs of the Fish Company:
    1. Production Floor:
      1. Supervising floor staff.
      2. Quality assurance protocol development and execution.
      3. Fish intake evaluations and management.
      4. Fish processing/handling.
      5. Inventory management.
      6. Oversight of shipping and freight preparation and documentation.
      7. Order fulfillment and management.
      8. Safety protocol.
      9. Equipment upkeep and maintenance.
      10. Facilities maintenance, identifying facility needs.
    2. Retail Operations:
      1. Provides lead in retail store operations.
      2. Ensures proper inventory and stocking of storefront.
      3. Purchasing and appropriate pricing of products.
      4. Execute inventory management processes and procedures.
      5. Responsible for cleaning and appearance of storefront and appropriate presentation of merchandise in storefront.
      6. Complete bookkeeping and storefront accounting and record keeping.
    3. Trap Net Operations:
      1. Designation, execution and delivery of Trap Net operations.
      2. Safety protocol designation and execution.
      3. Equipment maintenance and upkeep.
      4. Preparation of Trap Net equipment (Boat, nets, reel, miscellaneous equipment),
      5. Quality Assurance process designation and execution.
      6. Boat and equipment storage and seasonal maintenance.
      7. Planning for seasonal fishing operations.
      8. Management of product delivery.
      9. Captaining the boat; oversight of staff on water.
  4. All duties and responsibilities are to be completed adhering to all safety regulations, according to directions from Production Associate(s) or the Business Manager and in accordance with Fish Company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  5. Review, learn and become knowledgeable of Red Cliff Fish Company safety regulations, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), and Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) requirements.
  6. Complete HACCP certification if directed by Business Manager. (Opportunity to achieve certification will be provided during work time if a training opportunity is available during period of employment).
  7. Complete fish intake – inspecting, weighing and sorting/grading fish according to category and quality control protocol standards.
  8. Execute fish handling process and procedures including, but not limited to toting, boxing, filleting, and packaging.
  9. Utilize all equipment and machinery to process (dress, scale and filet), transport and package fish in accordance with all safety requirements and SOPs.
  10. Complete preparation for shipment/delivery of products (packaging, palletization, packing slips, bill of ladings, etc.).
  11. Appropriately complete packaging and labelling of products.
  12. Complete preparation of products for smoking, vacuum packing and other product processing (fish dips, etc.).
  13. Execute appropriate handling, staging and transport of Fish Co. production by-product for composting or other processing.
  14. Complete inventory management procedures and documentation.
  15. Daily preparation of supplies, packaging and equipment.
  16. Daily, weekly, monthly and as-needed sanitation, facility maintenance and groundskeeping. Includes, but not limited to, cleaning, disinfecting, sweeping, mopping, snow clearing, ice mitigation.
  17. Execute Fish Co. retail storefront procedures including, but not limited to, stocking and inventory management, merchandising, Point of Sale operation, customer service, transaction processing in accordance with Fish Company Cash Handling Policy and other SOPs.
  18. Responsible for assuring quality of products at all levels; ensuring proper labeling of products along the production pathway; Ensures proper inventory and stocking of storefront; responsible for cleaning and appearance/presentation of merchandise in storefront
  19. The above duties and responsibilities are not an all-inclusive list but rather a general representation of the duties and responsibilities associated with this position. The duties and responsibilities will be subject to change based on organizational needs and/or deemed necessary by the supervisor.

Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE:

  1. Strong desire to learn and be taught about Red Cliff Fish Co. and fish processing, , store management and operations, value-added product production, inventory management, SOPs, record keeping, or trap net boat operations.
  2. Ability to adhere to company deadlines, standards, and directions.
  3. Strong desire to learn and be taught about equipment in the facility.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Must be 18 years of age or older.
  2. High school Diploma, HSED or GED preferred.
  3. Experience in manufacturing in a food processing environment or comparable experience preferred.
  4. Valid divers license is preferred.
  5. Prior fish production experience preferred.
  6. Prior food prep and production experience a plus.
  7. Prior retail and/or customer service experience preferred.

PERSONAL CONTACTS: Daily contact with Red Cliff Fish Company staff, Treaty Natural Resources Division staff, vendors, customers, and fishermen.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Frequently and regularly required using the wrists, hands and/or fingers. Must be able to stand on feet for long periods of time in cold temperatures. Be able to hear average or normal conversations and receive ordinary information in person. Average visual acuity necessary to prepare or inspect product or prepare machinery. Standing and walking 90% of the time. Role requires significant exertion and the ability to handle, lift, and perform maneuvers of weights up to 100 lbs.

WORK ENVIRONMENT Fish Plant with cold temperatures. Work setting must be maintained as a clean, nonsmoking, well-ventilated area in compliance with all applicable safety regulations. All tribal buildings are smoke free.

TRAVEL: Limited travel upon request to support product delivery and for occasional trainings as they arise.
