Position Part-Time (Recycling Attendant) or Temporary (Shop Attendant)

Schedule: Must be available for weekends and public holidays

About the role:

We are currently seeking a full time or Part-Time Recycling Attendants for our Melton site, managed on behalf of the Melton City Council. This role involves engaging with customers who drop off goods for recycling and disposal. You will be responsible for identifying and salvaging recyclable materials while ensuring a safe and efficient environment.

Key responsibilities:

  • Assist customers in understanding site rules and safe disposal practices
  • Sort and salvage items for recycling and resale, including metals, wood, cardboard, mattresses, and household goods
  • Move materials around the facility in both indoor and outdoor settings
  • Contribute to our Reuse Shop, promoting sustainability by selling salvaged items such as clothing, building materials, and garden supplies

About you:

We are looking for motivated individuals who are passionate about the environment and enjoy a diverse range of tasks. Your responsibilities will include customer service, sorting goods, and working in a dynamic environment where no two days are the same.

You should possess:

  • Excellent customer service skills and a collaborative attitude
  • Reliability and punctuality
  • A commitment to safety protocols and practices

Experience with a forklift or previous waste management experience is a plus but not required. Whether you are a school leaver or someone returning to the workforce, we provide training and welcome all applicants.

The Royal Children's Hospital (RCH) has been providing outstanding care for Victoria's children and their families for over 147 years.

We are the major specialist paediatric hospital in Victoria and our care extends to children from Tasmania, southern New South Wales and other states around Australia and overseas.
