
The Recycler is responsible for sorting, processing, and handling PVC scrap materials, ensuring compliance with safety protocols, and operating necessary machinery to facilitate the recycling process. This role requires attention to detail, adherence to safety procedures, and effective communication with team members to support operational efficiency.
Consistently wear required PPE (hearing protection, OSHA-approved eye protection, gloves, steel-toe boots).
Follow safety protocols for saw cutting procedures and PVC scrap processing.
Comply with all OSHA-required safety training, including forklift operation, hazard recognition, fire safety, lockout/tagout procedures, and personal protective equipment (PPE) usage.
Read and follow production skid tags, understanding item numbers, part descriptions, quantity per skid, and label identification.
Properly sort various types of purchased scrap, including free foam PVC trim, rigid materials, PVC mouldings, sawdust, colored non-white materials, and siding.
Operate Vibrator Sorting Table, Tip Hopper, dust collection system, metal separator, and earth magnet system.
Load and manage gray scrap bins for processing.
Operate forklifts according to in-house and OSHA safety guidelines (seatbelt usage, stopping at designated areas, using horns, maintaining fork height below 12 inches while moving).
Perform forklift safety checks before shifts, inspecting brakes, horn, lights, alarms, steering, tires, hydraulic systems, and battery connections.
Follow proper stacking procedures to ensure warehouse safety.
Wear required PPE for grinder operations (face shield, black gloves, hearing protection, and OSHA-approved safety glasses).
Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for starting and shutting down shredders and grinders, working with maintenance when necessary.
Monitor and manage amps to prevent overloads during the grinding process.
Safely dump blue and gray bins, following protocol to attach safety chains and correctly operate the self-dumping hopper.
Prior experience working in an industrial setting preferred.
Familiarity with warehouse operations, recycling processes, and material handling equipment
Ability to lift 25-50 lbs as required.
Knowledge of measurement tools (tape measures, calipers, micrometers) and ability to pass measurement test before hire.
Strong understanding of workplace safety protocols and procedures
Must pass background check and drug test.
High school diploma or GED required.
