Smart Environmental Ltd is seeking a reliable and motivated Recycling Ambassador to join our Tākaka site in beautiful Golden Bay.

Smart Environmental Ltd works on behalf of local councils, businesses, and communities, providing rubbish and recycling collection services. As part of Blue Planet, with a large fleet of collection vehicles and linehaul operations, our mission is to divert waste from landfill and create more sustainable communities

About the Role

This role is responsible for supporting the day-to-day operations of the site, including yard operations, customer service, and site administration. No two days are the same. You'll help maintain a safe and tidy site, assist customers, process transactions, support recycling activities, and provide cover for team members when required.

Working 8:30am to 4:00pm on Fridays and 9:00am to 4:00pm on Saturdays, this permanent part-time position offers the chance to make a real difference in your local community while being supported by a friendly and collaborative team.

Additional hours may be available from time to time, so flexibility is essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Customer service and public interaction
  • Operating POS systems and processing payments
  • Weighing vehicles and recording transactions
  • Supporting recycling and resource recovery activities
  • Maintaining Health & Safety standards
  • Providing cover for team members as required

About You

  • Full Class 1 Driver Licence (essential)
  • Cash handling and EFTPOS experience
  • Customer service experience
  • Strong computer skills
  • Friendly and customer-focused
  • Physically fit and comfortable working outdoors
  • Confident using computers and POS systems
  • Reliable, adaptable, and proactive
  • A strong communicator with excellent interpersonal skills
  • A practical problem solver who takes initiative
