Summary
The Recruitment Specialist (Seasonal) serves as a Girl Scout membership resource and supports council-wide membership goals by implementing recruitment strategies and engaging families in the Girl Scout Leadership Experience. This role focuses on community outreach, event facilitation, and relationship-building with youth, caregivers, and volunteers, with a strong emphasis on equity, inclusion, and access.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Present Girl Scouts to youth and families at school open houses, community events, and recruitment activities
- Facilitate engaging, hands-on Girl Scout activities for youth and caregivers
- Support volunteer recruitment through conversations with parents and caregivers
- Enter and maintain accurate recruitment and event data in membership tracking systems
- Perform administrative tasks related to event preparation and follow-up
- Represent the Girl Scout brand professionally at all recruitment events
- Implement outreach strategies to promote membership growth in diverse communities, including Black, Latine, and Hmong communities
- Adapt to changes in assignments and priorities to support seasonal recruitment needs
Seasonal Schedule and Required Availability
This seasonal role includes variable hours throughout the recruitment cycle:
- May 30: Required training day
- June, July, August: Approximately 10-15 hours per month (primarily community tabling and outreach events)
- September: Youth-focused training plus continued 10-15 hours per month
- Additional commitments may include:
- - Late-August open house events (evenings)
- - September sign-up events
- - One short-term “Starter Troop” assignment (4 weeks in October, weekday evenings)
Schedule Flexibility
This position requires schedule flexibility. Supporting community members may involve evening meetings, weekend events, and adjusting between in-person and virtual work depending on program and community needs.
Travel, License, and Transportation
- Regular local travel across the council service area
- Travel is primarily daytime but may occasionally include long-distance or nighttime driving
- Mileage reimbursement is provided in accordance with Council policy
- Valid driver’s license and proof of insurance are required
- Must be able to drive a personal vehicle or a Council-provided vehicle as needed
Skills and Attributes
- Ability to work evenings and weekends
- Strong customer service and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to work independently to meet outreach and recruitment goals
- Comfortable working with sensitive and confidential information
- Willingness to travel throughout local council areas
Education and Experience
- Experience working with youth and families, particularly in diverse communities
- Experience working within or supporting an anti-racist, equity-centered environment
- Experience in recruiting, outreach, sales, retail, public relations, or community engagement preferred
- Prior experience with Girl Scouts preferred
- Bilingual skills (Spanish, Hmong, Somali) preferred
