About the Role

Calgary Co-op is looking for a motivated and people-focused Recruitment Advisor to join our Human Resources team on a temporary basis at our Head Office. In this role, you will support the full recruitment lifecycle — from proactively sourcing top talent to guiding candidates through onboarding.

What You'll Do

  • Partner with department leaders to identify short- and long-term staffing needs and develop tailored recruitment strategies.
  • Lead full-cycle recruitment: sourcing, advertising, resume screening, interviewing, employment offers, reference checks, and onboarding.
  • Keep internal and external job boards, social media channels, and the Calgary Co-op careers website current and compelling.
  • Build and sustain positive working relationships with hiring managers across the organization.
  • Champion recruitment best practices and adapt strategies to meet the unique needs of each business area.
  • Expand candidate pipelines through partnerships with associations, educational institutions, career fairs, and community events.
  • Provide hiring recommendations aligned with Calgary Co-op policy, procedures, and the Collective Agreement.
  • Coordinate union position fills via transfer, selection, relocation, priority placement, or external recruitment.
  • Support labour relations activities, including collective agreement administration and participation in the grievance process as required.
  • Prepare and present recruitment metrics, analyses, and reports.
  • Uphold confidentiality across all lines of business and ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Participate in Occupational Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) and Food Safety programs and activities.

What You Bring

  • Completion of post-secondary education (Human Resources, Business, or related field preferred).
  • 5–8 years of recruitment experience, preferably within a unionized environment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of labour relations, policy interpretation, and Human Rights Legislation as it relates to recruitment.
  • Client-focused approach with a strong commitment to delivering quality service.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with strong analytical and organizational abilities.
  • Proven track record of managing end-to-end recruitment and onboarding projects of varying scope and complexity.
  • Ability to build and sustain long-term, positive relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and the ability to prioritize competing deadlines.
  • Self-starter who can work independently with minimal direction and collaborate effectively across departments.
  • Professional demeanor with a commitment to discretion, tact, and diplomacy.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) designation is preferred.
  • Experience working with Oracle HRIS is preferred.
