Job Overview
Newcomb & Boyd is seeking a highly organized and proactive Recruiter & HR Operations Coordinator to join our Human Resources team. This hybrid role combines full-cycle recruiting with essential HR operations support. The ideal candidate will excel at sourcing hard-to-find talent, managing early career programs, and maintaining HR systems, while contributing to a seamless employee experience.
Recruiting & Talent Acquisition
- Manage full-cycle recruiting for a variety of roles, including sourcing, screening, interviewing, and offer coordination
- Develop strategies to identify and attract candidates for hard-to-fill and specialized positions
- Partner closely with hiring managers to understand hiring needs and build effective recruiting plans
- Build and maintain talent pipelines through proactive sourcing (LinkedIn, industry networks, etc.)
- Coordinate interviews and ensure a positive and efficient candidate experience
- Track recruiting activity and maintain accurate data in the applicant tracking system
Co-Op Program Management
- Manage and grow the company’s Co-Op program, including university partnerships and campus outreach
- Coordinate Co-Op engagement activities onsite and offsite
- Coordinate recruitment cycles, interviews, and onboarding for Co-Op students
- Serve as the primary point of contact for Co-Op participants and internal stakeholders
- Lead programming and engagement initiatives for Co-Op semester
- Track scheduling and assignments for each semester
- Maintain connections with Co-Op participants between work semesters and after prior to graduation as part of the recruiting pipeline.
HR Operations & Systems
- Maintain and ensure accuracy of employee data within the HRIS system
- Serve as a key resource for HRIS updates, reporting, and process improvements
- Lead onboarding and offboarding processes to ensure a smooth employee lifecycle
- Assist with benefits administration and employee inquiries
- Coordinate HR programs such as performance reviews and training initiatives
- Support compliance efforts, documentation, and HR policy updates
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong understanding of engineering industry trends and technical job requirements.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships with candidates, hiring managers, and senior leadership.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Knowledge of labor laws and compliance related to recruitment and hiring.
- A proactive, solution-oriented mindset with the ability to adapt to changing hiring needs.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple job openings and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to travel 25%
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field
- 2–4+ years of experience in recruiting, HR operations, or a blended role
- Proven experience recruiting for difficult-to-fill or specialized roles is highly desirable
- Experience managing or supporting internship/Co-op programs preferred
- Hands-on experience with HRIS systems required; Paycom or Paylocity experience strongly preferred
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel)
Preferred
Qualifications
- Experience working in an engineering consulting firm or a similar technical environment.
- Experience with campus recruiting, job fairs, or other outreach initiatives to build talent pipelines.
- Proficiency in using HR analytics and recruitment software to drive decision-making.
- Certification in HR or recruiting (e.g., SHRM-CP, AIRS) is a plus.
