Responsibilities:
The Recreational Therapist on the IMIP Services (units G-9200 & 1-9200) is a member of interdisciplinary treatment teams comprised of nurses, doctors, NPs and PAs, social workers, psychologists, CASACs, PEERs, and interdisciplinary trainees. The Recreational Therapist for the IMIP units will act as an integrated team member providing direct patient care across two units: Unit 1-9200, Inpatient Medicine In Psychiatry, is a specialized unit for patients with acute medical-surgical conditions and co-occurring psychiatric issues that require special attention and expertise. Unit G-9200, Substance Use, Medication Management, Infection Treatment and Support (SUMMITS), specializes in providing acute medical-surgical care to people who have a substance use disorder and need to stay in the hospital for long courses of treatment.
The IMIP Recreational Therapist follows NCTRC standards, providing direct patient care through evidence-based programming that is strength-based and person-centered. Individualized assessment guides the RT’s treatment to restore, remediate, or rehabilitate specific aspects of patients’ physical, cognitive, social, emotional and behavioral functioning and interests in leisure/play. The Recreational Therapist conducts assessments in a timely manner in accordance with standards and implements individual and group sessions as indicated to realize patients’ treatment goals.
