f you have experience working with groups of preschool children ages 3-5 and have a passion for teaching, Associated Recreation Council (ARC) has an amazing role for you as a Recreation Preschool Assistant Teacher at Discovery Park Environmental Learning Center

ARC, in partnership with Seattle Parks and Recreation, serves Seattle by offering access to licensed programming and a variety of recreational and lifelong learning programs, classes, and activities. In this role, the Recreation Preschool Assistant Teacher will be responsible for engaging participants and helping the Director with activities for preschool participants between the ages of 3 and 5. The Recreation Preschool Assistant Teacher is responsible for maintaining a safe, fun, inclusive environment welcoming to all.

  • Discovery Park Environmental Learning Center - 3801 Discovery Park Blvd, Seattle, WA 98199

Recreation Preschool Assistant Teacher Responsibilities:

  • Helping lead daily curriculum activities with a classroom of children ages 3-5 years old
  • Models appropriate behavior and provides opportunities for social and emotional growth
  • Ensures a ratio of 1:8 (staff to children) is maintained as much as possible to ensure that children are safe and accounted for
  • Reports to the Recreation Preschool Director

Recreation Preschool Assistant Teacher Qualifications:

  • Must be 21 years of age or older
  • Initial ECE Certificate or equivalent is preferred
  • Must have High School Diploma, or GED, or college transcripts or other secondary education
  • Some experience working with groups of children between the ages of 3-5 years old in a preschool setting (preferred)

Schedule:

  • Summer (July and August): Monday - Friday up to 25 hours per week between the hours of 9:00am - 1:30pm
  • Hiring by Date: June 16, 2025

Pay:

  • Starting Pay: $22.00/hr, non-exempt; part-time position
  • Full Pay Range: $22.00-25.30/hr (the employee may earn up to $25.30/hr with additional years in the role)
