Position Summary/ Objective:
The Recreation and Wellness Manager is a passionate leader within the Recreation Department, focused on delivering meaningful recreational, wellness, and education-driven experiences that inspire relaxation, movement, connection, and personal development. This hands-on role oversees daily operations at the Cove Pool Deck and other wellness spaces, ensuring a safe, clean, and welcoming environment. The manager curates and leads a variety of wellness and educational activities, including guided hikes, exercise, meditation, water aerobics, and local history classes. This role requires strong leadership, time management, and professionalism, while demonstrating core competencies such as Results Driven, Effective Communication, Putting People First, and Objective Problem Solving.
Primary Essential Functions:
• All associates are obligated to support and uphold the values, expectations, policies, and procedures of Grand Pacific Resorts as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
• Collaborate with the Director of Resort Activities and Guest Experience to design and update wellness and pool deck activity schedules 2-3 times annually.
• Ensure proper ordering and inventory management of supplies and materials.
• Actively host and participate in wellness and recreational activities.
• Maintain an organized and safe environment at all times for both guests and team members.
• Assist with surprise and delight moments and Signature Smile initiatives.
• Oversee cleanliness and readiness of the Cove Pool area.
• Support resort-wide events including Family Gathering, Associate Rallies, and Food & Beverage trucks.
• Resolve guest concerns promptly and professionally.
• Create unique and interactive Owner moments that elevate the resort experience.
• Lead wellness and educational activities such as hiking, run club, meditation, and personal development talks.
• Mentor and support recreation and lifeguard associates, fostering a team-first, guest-focused environment.
• Assist in onboarding and training of new team members, ensuring alignment with service standards.
• Ensure Monthly Safety Training is completed.
• Provide cross-departmental support including shuttle, bell services and/or front desk.
• Assist with scheduling, payroll, and supply ordering.
• Ensure compliance with resort policies and safety protocols.
• Responsible for conducting all responsibilities in a professional and ethical manner.
• Responsible for maintaining a consistent, regular attendance record.
• Adhere to performance standards, company policies and procedures, as they relate to the department.
Education, Skills &
Experience:
The ideal candidate must be a detail oriented, thorough, and professional individual who consistently provides exemplary customer service to guests, owners, management and associates.
• 3+ years in hospitality, recreation, guest services, or related leadership roles.
• Strong leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrated ability to plan and execute multi-faceted programming.
• Energetic and creative approach to guest experience.
• Must be Lifeguard certified or willing to complete the training.
• Experience in the hospitality industry (time share preferred).
• Ability to work well in a diverse team environment.
Additional Eligibility
Qualifications Required:
• Must be available to work various shifts including weekends and holidays.
• Must be able to successfully pass applicable auditions or skill testing, background check, physical examination and drug screening test.
• Ability to speak and understand the English language.
Physical, Environmental & Other Requirements:
• Must be able to stand and/or walk for up to 8 hours.
• Must also be able to sit, stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl.
• Must be able to lift 25 lbs. consistently.
• Must be able to push/pull up to 75 lbs on wheeled containers/carts.
• Clear vision (close, distant and depth perception) is needed for navigating office and all other buildings within the resort.
