Position Summary

Explore the many facets of recreation at Nemacolin while building practical skills in luxury hospitality and guest experience. As a Recreation Coordinator Intern, you will gain hands-on exposure to The Peak, the resort’s recreational division, and its expansive 2,200-acre property, from high-adventure experiences and indoor entertainment to year-round pool operations. This paid, 12-week internship places you in a Forbes- and AAA-rated environment where you will learn from experienced recreation professionals, develop the confidence to lead in an active guest-facing setting, and connect your academic experience to a future in recreation and tourism management.

What You Will Create

  • Memorable recreational experiences as you gain hands-on exposure to The Peak and the broader recreational division, learning how engaging, safe, and thoughtful service brings each experience to life
  • Versatile recreation expertise through exposure to high-adventure offerings, including zip-lining, belaying, the high ropes challenge course, and Jeep off-roading
  • Engaging indoor entertainment experiences as you learn the operations behind the indoor gymnasium, virtual reality simulation, laser tag, cosmic bowling, and axe throwing
  • Year-round recreation knowledge through exposure to outdoor pool operations and the seasonal considerations of continuous recreation programming
  • Confident guest interactions as you develop the awareness, communication, and composure needed to support guests in a fast-paced recreational environment

Qualifications

  • High school diploma required
  • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a bachelor’s degree program in parks and recreation, hospitality management, sports management, or a related discipline
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA, with upperclassman status preferred, particularly for students seeking to fulfill experiential educational requirements during their junior or senior year
  • Previous recreation and customer service experience preferred
  • Commitment to completing a consecutive 12-week internship, as required by the intern rotation
  • Continuous authorization to work in the U.S. for the duration of the internship
  • Ability to work varied hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, while maintaining the energy, physical stamina, and composure required in an active, guest-facing environment
  • Ability to stand for up to eight hours at a time and remain effective in high-pressure situations
  • Fluency in English required
