Job Description

Under the supervision of the Administration Manager, the Recreation Coordinator - Facility Rental & Events is responsible for the management and coordination of rentals and reservations for all Parks and Recreation facilities, including indoor spaces, athletic fields, outdoor pavilions, and special event venues. This position oversees the permitting process for special events, coordinates with internal city departments and outside agencies, develops rental policies, supervises part-time and support staff, and manages the event operations at the Oscar Johnson, Jr. Enrichment & Recreation Center. The Facilities and Rental Coordinator plays a key role in expanding facility usage and sports tourism by promoting field and tournament rentals and ensuring high-quality customer service and operational efficiency.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience:

  • Associate's degree in Parks and Recreation, Public Administration, Event Management, or a related field.
  • Three years of experience in facility management, event coordination, or related administrative work. Supervisory experience preferred.
  • Experience with Microsoft office systems, reservation software (Active Net preferred), and accounting software (InCode preferred)

Special Requirements:

  • Must possess a valid class "C" Texas driver's license or higher.
  • American Red Cross First Aid, AED, and CPR Certification, or ability to obtain within three (3) months of hire.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of reservation systems, event coordination, and municipal permitting processes.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
  • Ability to build relationships with the public, partners, and internal staff.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and scheduling software.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The work is sedentary and requires the ability to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Additionally, the following physical abilities are required: balancing, climbing, crawling, crouching, feeling, fingering, grasping, handling, kneeling, lifting, mental acuity, pulling, pushing, reaching, repetitive motions, speaking, standing, stooping, and walking.
