
General Summary This position will be responsible for interacting with co-workers and participants of community centers or the general public as well as other departmental activities. At any given time, working hours of a part-time Recreation Associate may be divided between the duties of a receptionist, recreation specialist or groundskeeper based on the needs of the designated area. May interact with instructors, program participants, young children, community leaders, co-workers, civic organizations, and the public. Enforces the rules and regulations of the designated area for the safety and welfare of the staff and participants. This position will report to Community Center Managers, Program Coordinators or other designated person.
Based on the needs of the designated area, may be assigned to work as a recreation specialist to monitor people participating in activities at various community centers. Accurately maintains participation/attendance numbers, and other records as requested. Keeps the supervisor informed of any problems arising with participants, activities, and the assigned facility.
Based on the needs of the designated area, may be assigned to work as receptionist to answer incoming calls and assist participants utilizing the various community centers based on the needs of the location. Assist with rentals and program information. Assist with fax transaction and mailings
Based on the needs of the designated area, may be assigned to work as a groundskeeper to assist with beautifying the grounds by mowing lawns, raking leaves and brush, weeds flower beds, and trimming and edging turf areas. Uses hand tools, mowers, blowers, line trimmers, hedge clippers. Plants flowers, shrubs, grass, and trees. Applies fertilizers, pesticides, and soil amendments.
Assists in keeping the facility, equipment, and supplies neat, orderly, and clean.

Experience: No minimum experience required
Preferred Experience: Previous experience as a recreation specialist, receptionist, or groundskeeper.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Certification: Possess or have ability to obtain a valid state operator/driver’s license for the type vehicle or equipment operated.
