About this Program
Youth Community Living Support Services (YCLSS) isaNSW government-funded program offering time-limited, community-based psychosocial support to young people aged 15-24 with serious mental illness. It aims to help individuals who are at risk of developing functional disabilities due to mental health issues. Delivered across five NSW locations, YCLSS partners with Local Health Districts to provide coordinated care.
The program’sobjectivesare to support personal recovery, reduce the risk of chronic disability, and minimize hospital admissions. YCLSS helps young people stay connected to their communities, engage in education and work, manage their mental health, and secure stable housing. It also supports families in understanding andassistingtheir loved ones’ recovery.
Recovery Workers are essential in guiding participants through key developmental areas like social skills, leadership, and resilience. They help build natural supports for long-term recovery, ensuring that individuals have the tools and connections needed tomaintaintheir independence and thrive in their communities.
About the opportunity
Are you passionate about supporting young people through mental health challenges? As a Recovery Worker,you'llplay a key role in helping young individuals aged 15-24 reclaim their identities, build resilience, and take control of their futures.
In this role,you’llwork closely with participants, their families, and care teams to develop tailored recovery plans that focus on independence, self-determination, and meaningful life goals.You'llengage participants in activities that foster life skills, connect them with their communities, and help them reach their recovery goals.
But the impact goes beyond support –you’llbe part of a collaborative process with clinicians and families to ensure safe, effective care.You’lluse tools like theWellifyapp andparticipatein family-sensitive practices to help families understand and support their loved ones’ recovery.

You will also need:
A contemporary understanding of mental health issues and recovery orientatedmental health practice
Capacity to continuously develop practice in response to supervision, reflection,training, practiceexperienceand feedback
Completion of the Certificate IVin Mental Health, Certificate IVin Mental Health PeerWork or Certificate IVin Community Services, or equivalent practical experienceworking in a mental healthrole.
Rights to work in Australia and A current and valid Driver’s License
Satisfactory Police Records Check [less than 12 months old] and Working with Children Check, before commencement – or willing to obtain.
NDIS (National Disability Insurance Scheme) Worker Orientation Module Certificate is mandatory prior to commencement: https://www.ndiscommission.gov.au/workers/support-for-workers/training-course
NDIS Worker Screening Check (NDISWSC) is mandatory prior to commencement.

Wellways Australia is a leading national mental health and disability support organisation with services in Queensland, ACT, NSW, Victoria and Tasmania.
We work with a diverse range of people, their families and carers to identify needs and goals to build good lives in the community This includes creating a home, getting a job and building meaningful relationships.
We also deliver services to people with multiple, complex needs and often do this in partnership with clinical services, health support agencies and government.
Our services are informed by current evidence on mental health, rehabilitation and community inclusion, together with an understanding of people’s lived experience – what works for them.
We are a registered NDIS service provider. Our knowledgeable staff have the right community connections. We offer: support co-ordination, group based activities, assistance to access community, skills development, assistance with household tasks and personal care, housing and tenancy, help with budgeting and travel training.
Many of our staff draw from their own experience of mental health issues to provide peer support in services, education courses, advocacy workshops and our advice and referral Helpline.
