Job Description

Reporting to the RSS Trainee Program Lead, the Recovery Support Trainee aids clients in residential treatment, acting as a mentor and lead within the environment. The Recovery Support Trainee provides assistance to program staff and helps engage clients through each stage of their recovery. The Recovery Support Trainee shadows staff with the intention of learning the day-to-day role of a Recovery Support Staff.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develops rapport with clients, acting as a mentor and role model.
  • Share relevant parts of personal recovery story (role modeling) to support clients in engagement and help them engage in treatment.
  • Identify and report risks to program (boundary concerns, drugs on campus, clients violating rules).
  • Identifies and reports safety concerns. Observing and documenting relevant patient information and behaviors. Ensuring communication lines between all departments (clinical, medical, culinary, administrative, etc.).
  • Helps build relationships and community within the residential treatment setting (ex. Lead recreational and community building activities).
  • Acts as a liaison between staff and clients.
  • Helps ensure that patients adhere to their day-to-day program schedule.
  • Supports in recovery groups, helping to create a safe space for clients.
  • Attends all required staff training sessions in accordance with Phoenix House and state licensing requirements and completes all training on time.
  • Attends and participates in program as requested by RSS Trainee Lead and Program Administration.
  • Adheres to and promotes the Phoenix House Mission, Vision, and Values while acting as a role model for others.
  • Assumes lead duties for shift(s) as assigned.
  • Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/CREDENTIALS

  • High school diploma or its equivalent required.
  • Successful completion of Residential Treatment Program.

About Phoenix House California

Phoenix Houses of California is comprised of four locations. Lake View Terrace houses our senior leadership team, an adolescent residential substance abuse program, outpatient services for youth and adults, a Wraparound team, and prevention services.

Venice Beach is an adult male-only residential substance abuse treatment program.

Orange County offers residential substance abuse treatment for women and men- housed in separate areas. Additionally, we offer adult outpatient therapy, Recovery Support Services (RSS), Family Wraparound, and Behavioral Health Intervention Services (BHIS) and mental health services in the local schools.

We also have numerous locations spread throughout California that encompasses our Corrections and Rehabilitation Division. The various sites offer mental health services to individuals in prisons, jails, or correctional settings in order to prepare them for re-entry. Locations include: Blythe, Soledad, Susanville, Calipatria, and Bakersfield.
