What you bring to SBHG (qualifications)
Licensing: Valid California Driver’s License and current automobile insurance and must maintain a driving record that meets the company driver's eligibility policy.
Certification: Mental Health Rehabilitation Specialist (MHRS) certification required (can be obtained after hire).
Recovery Counselor I
Education/Experience: High school diploma (or equivalent) plus one year of full-time experience in consumer-directed services within a mental health, healthcare, or social services setting.
Recovery Counselor II
Requires one of the following education and experience combinations:
Associate degree: Plus, six years of experience in the mental health field.
Bachelor’s Degree (Mental Health Field): Plus, four years of experience in the mental health field.
Master’s Degree (Mental Health Field): Plus, two years of experience in the mental health field.
How you will make a difference (job overview):
This position has primary responsibility for providing direct care to meet the physical and psychosocial needs of the clients through direct and indirect physical and verbal interaction. Duties are performed under direct supervision of the Program Coordinator, or designee, in most cases, but some tasks are accomplished independently.
Division/Program Overview:
24/7 voluntary residential setting specifically for Transitional Age Youth (TAY) at risk and need a higher level of care, but lower than a psychiatric hospital
Facility equipped to serve up to 15 Youth
Provides mental health services that include individual therapy, group rehabilitation, medication management, and case management
Incorporates the tenets of recovery, peer support, and identifying community connections
Connects individuals to educational and vocational services and initiating the process of locating housing
