Summary

Operates on-line computers and performs related clerical duties of average difficulty.

Examples of duties

  • Type alphabetic or numeric data on a keyboard at a computer terminal using a coding system;
  • Compare data on screen with source documents to detect errors;
  • Check for errors and verify questionable data with originating department;
  • Retrieve data from computer files when requested;
  • File hard copy documents;
  • Answer the telephone.

Qualifications

Completion of a high school diploma or the equivalent with an additional one to three years of experience operating an on-line computer keyboard terminal; or any combination of relevant education and experience which provides the following:

Valid Driving License

Knowledge of:

Operation of computer terminal.

Ability to:

  • Make comparisons and calculations with reasonable accuracy and speed;
  • Perform clerical work of average difficulty;
  • Communicate effectively with others

Physical Requirements

  • Occasionally lift up to 10 pounds;
  • Occasionally walk, stand bend and kneel during a shift;
  • Occasionally flex upper trunk forward and at the waist and partially flexing of knees;
  • Occasionally rotate upper trunk to the right or left or forward while sitting or standing
