Summary

Supervises, plans, and coordinates the work of employees engaged in the production and maintenance of management information data and police records and reports.

Examples of duties

  • Assign and supervise the work of all personnel in the Police Records department;
  • Develop information formats and accountability for entering information into the computer system;
  • Supervise the preparation of Uniform Crime Report and other official reports to state and federal Agencies;
  • Reconcile incident reports with records of the dispatching/receptionist section;
  • Work with the Information Services concerning necessary data requirements for management information;
  • Train personnel in record keeping procedures;
  • Prepare reports and correspondence as needed;
  • Perform related duties as directed.

Qualifications

Completion of a high school diploma or the equivalent with an additional three years of experience involving electronic and manual records maintenance; or any combination of relevant education and experience which provides the following:

Valid Driver's License required

Supplemental information

Knowledge of:

  • Use of electronic data information systems.

Ability to:

  • Direct the work of subordinates;
  • Communicate effectively with others;
  • Prepare and administer a budget;
  • Pass an extensive background investigation to receive security clearance;
  • Exercise excellent judgment and responsibility in storing and issuing sensitive information

Physical Requirements

  • Occasionally lift up to 10 pounds
  • Occasionally flex upper trunk forward and at the waist and partially flexing of knees
  • Occasionally rotate upper trunk to the right or left or forward while sitting or standing
  • Place arms above, at or below shoulder height
