We are looking for an experienced and forward-thinking qualified Records Manager to join our Information and Records Management Service.
This is a great opportunity for someone who combines strong professional records and information management expertise with practical knowledge of SharePoint Online and Microsoft 365.
You'll help us develop modern, effective ways of managing information throughout its lifecycle, ensuring that good records-management practice is built into the way our digital environments work.
This isn't simply a SharePoint or IT role, though; we're looking for someone who understands records and information management first and foremost, but who also has the skills to confidently translate those principles into practical, sustainable Microsoft 365 and SharePoint solutions.
The role provides specialist professional advice across Lancashire County Council on the creation, maintenance, access and disposal of physical and digital information and records, alongside responsibility for developing policies and procedures, applying retention schedules, supporting electronic records management and delivering records-related projects. We are looking for someone who is able to reach out and proactively work with services to develop and help them on their M365 and SharePoint journey.
Working with colleagues across the organisation, you'll:
The role also includes applying business classification schemes, access and security controls, managing digital and physical information, digitisation, disposal, audit controls, training and the delivery of records-management projects.
You'll have professional experience of working in records and/or information management, together with the ability to work confidently with technical specialists, business areas and information governance colleagues.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate:
SharePoint and Microsoft 365
We're also looking for someone with practical experience or strong working knowledge of:
Above all, you'll be able to translate records-management requirements into workable SharePoint and Microsoft 365 designs.
You'll understand that successful digital records management isn't achieved simply by configuring technology. It requires bringing together people, process, governance, information architecture, records-management principles and technology to create solutions that colleagues can actually use.
You'll have:
Registered membership of the Archives and Records Association or equivalent professional body would be desirable.
We're looking for someone who is:
The way organisations create and manage records is changing rapidly. SharePoint Online, Microsoft 365 and cloud-based collaboration give us significant opportunities, but they also mean good records management needs to be designed into our digital environment from the start.
You'll have an opportunity to help shape that approach, bringing together established records-management practice with modern Microsoft 365 capabilities.
If you're a records-management professional who understands SharePoint, rather than simply a SharePoint specialist who has encountered records management, we'd particularly like to hear from you.
We expect colleagues to demonstrate our values by being Supportive, Innovative, Respectful and Collaborative, putting customers at the heart of our work and working together to achieve the best outcomes.
If you have a strong records and information management background and want to help shape how records management works across SharePoint Online and Microsoft 365, we'd love to hear from you.
Closing Date: 01/11/2026
Please ensure you upload a supporting statement demonstrating how you meet the criteria for the role.
We reserve the right to close the vacancy early if we receive sufficient applications.
