DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Performs a variety of tasks in support of the Records Management program of Hampton City Schools. Position requires strict
confidentiality. Position serves as an entry-level position that assists and works alongside the HCS Records Specialist and
Technician in the compiling, maintaining and processing of student educational records. Follows local, state and federal
requirements for retention, release of, and disposition of records.

  • Follows the HCS procedural guidelines pertaining to the retention, release of, and disposition of school records in accordance
    with the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and Individuals with Disabilities
    Education Act (IDEA).
  • Assists Records Specialist and Records Technician in the compiling, maintaining and processing of student education
    records.
  • Runs high volume document scanning equipment and indexes records in the cloud archival software (DOMA) while maintaining
    quality control practices in place.
  • Ensures compliance with USPS mail preparation, first class, certified, and Non-Profit standards.
  • Receives, scans, accurately sorts, posts, and delivers incoming USPS and internal school mail.
  • Serves as a substitute for interoffice mail driver to deliver and pick up interoffice and U.S. mail.
  • Assist co-workers when in need in the daily operations of the Records Department.
  • Performs related work as required or assigned.


JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • At least one year of experience in records management setting, preferably k-12 educational.
  • Ability to manipulate controls necessary to safely drive and operate delivery truck to include foot pedals, steering wheel, lift
    gate, etc.
  • Knowledge of the operation of equipment used in records management such as scanners, paper shredders, mailing station,
    computer hardware, software, and general office equipment.
  • Ability to interact and communicate effectively and positively, both verbally and in writing, with employees, administration, as
    well as the general public.
