The Group Investment Office (GIO) oversees the management of the invested assets of SCOR Group. It aims at providing investment services to the Group, as well as financial analysis and controlling.
It is composed of the following teams:
Investment Record Keeping;
Investment Accounting;
Investment Business Analytics;
Investment Planning & Analysis;
Investment Risk and Controls.
The Investment Record Keeping team’s mission is to ensure an adequate capture of all transactions initiated by the various asset managers of the Group on the investment portfolio and to reconcile investment positions and valuations with all relevant third parties (including custodians, asset managers, loan agents, valuation agents, etc.).
The team acts as the Group’s central record keeping hub for investments and is globally responsible for the maintenance of the investment portfolio, related controls and the preparation of subsequent investment accounting tasks.
The team is also working closely with Group Treasury department on the administration of pledged assets and collateral.

Pledgedaccountsmanagement for French & Belgian cedents for which a very good command of French is required.
The Record Keeping Officer will be in regular contact with a number of third parties, should it be internal (e.g. Financial accountants, Group Treasury, local entities, SIP etc.) or external providers (e.g. custodians, asset managers, valuation agents,etc.).
Strong client service skills are expected for that position, as well as the capacity to promptly escalate issues.

However many tools we use to conduct our activities (models, databases, pricing tools, reserving tools, and so on), we also need expert judgments and human experience to correctly underwrite. This is what we call the art of underwriting. Reinsurance is a knowledge industry. Expertise is an accumulation variable.
The most advanced tool will never replace the intuition of a seasoned underwriter facing a complex risk. Because at the end of the day, you have to make a decision, to sign, to underwrite.
