How you’ll contribute

A Receptionist who excels in this role:

  • Greets patients and families and provides a welcoming, professional first point of contact for the pediatric practice.
  • Checks patients in and out, verifies demographic and insurance information, and ensures patient information is accurate and up to date.
  • Verifies insurance coverage and assists with gathering information needed for patient visits.
  • Collects and processes copays and other patient payments as appropriate.
  • Answers incoming telephone calls, routes calls and messages, and responds to patient and family inquiries in a professional and timely manner.
  • Schedules and manages patient appointments while supporting an efficient flow of patients throughout the practice.
  • Prepares and provides immunization/shot records and other requested patient documentation.
  • Ensures patients and families receive and complete the appropriate forms and documentation for well visits and other appointments.
  • Communicates effectively with providers, clinical staff, patients, families, and other departments to coordinate patient needs.
  • Performs general front-office and clerical functions, including scanning, faxing, filing, data entry, and maintaining patient documentation.
  • Manages multiple competing priorities in a high-volume pediatric practice while maintaining accuracy, professionalism, and a positive patient experience.
  • Protects confidential patient information and follows established organizational and practice policies and procedures.
  • Maintains an organized front-office environment and assists with additional administrative duties as assigned.

What we’re looking for

Applicants should have a high school diploma or equivalent, required. Additional requirements include:

  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate professionally with patients, families, providers, and coworkers.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume environment and prioritize multiple responsibilities.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated professionalism, empathy, positivity, and reliability.
  • Basic computer proficiency and ability to learn electronic medical record and scheduling systems.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous healthcare, medical office, dental office, patient access, receptionist, or similar customer-facing experience.
  • Previous experience with patient registration, appointment scheduling, insurance verification, or payment collection.
  • Experience working in a physician practice or pediatric setting.
  • Experience with Athena or a similar electronic medical record/practice management system.

Schedule: Full-Time, Monday–Thursday 8:00am – 4:00pm, & Friday 7:30am-5:30pm
