Receptionist – Part-Time

Kern River Transitional Care

Pay Range: $18.50–$19.00+ per hour, based on experience

Kern River Transitional Care is seeking a friendly, dependable, and professional Part-Time Receptionist to join our team. As the first point of contact for residents, families, visitors, employees, and community partners, you will play an important role in creating a warm and positive experience for everyone who enters our facility.

The ideal candidate has excellent customer-service skills, a professional demeanor, and the ability to remain organized in a busy healthcare environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Greet residents, families, visitors, vendors, and employees warmly and professionally.
  • Answer, screen, and direct incoming telephone calls.
  • Monitor the reception area and assist visitors with check-in procedures.
  • Provide general facility information and direct questions to the appropriate department.
  • Maintain visitor logs and follow facility safety and security procedures.
  • Receive, sort, and distribute mail, packages, deliveries, and correspondence.
  • Assist with filing, copying, scanning, faxing, data entry, and other clerical duties.
  • Schedule appointments and assist with maintaining calendars as assigned.
  • Communicate resident and family requests to appropriate staff members.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming reception area.
  • Protect residents’ privacy and maintain the confidentiality of all health information.
  • Follow facility policies, infection-prevention practices, and emergency procedures.
  • Provide administrative support to facility leadership and department managers as needed.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous receptionist, administrative, customer-service, or healthcare experience preferred.
  • Skilled nursing or long-term-care experience is a plus.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and general office equipment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organization, attention to detail, and time-management skills.
  • Friendly, patient, and professional approach when assisting residents and families.
  • Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and interruptions in a busy environment.
  • Dependable attendance and flexibility to work assigned shifts, including weekends or holidays as needed.
