At Retirement Villages Group, we create vibrant communities where people can live well, stay independent and feel connected. We are looking for a friendly and organised Administrator / Receptionist to join our team at Debden Grange, our beautiful retirement village in Saffron Walden. This is a part-time position working 24 hours per week, Tuesday to Friday, 9.30am to 3.30pm.

If you enjoy building relationships, staying organised and helping a community thrive, we'd love to hear from you.

About the role

This is a varied role that combines front-of-house responsibilities with administrative support. You'll be at the heart of village life, ensuring residents and visitors receive an exceptional experience while helping to keep day-to-day operations running smoothly.

What you'll be doing

  • Providing a professional, warm and welcoming reception service for residents, visitors and contractors.
  • Greeting guests, managing enquiries and directing visitors appropriately.
  • Answering and transferring telephone calls in a professional manner.
  • Managing guest suite, meeting room and village space bookings.

  • Supporting building security procedures and ensuring access protocols are followed.
  • Assisting with payroll administration, timesheets and payroll-related enquiries.
  • Maintaining accurate records and administrative systems.

  • Supporting health and safety procedures, including emergency and evacuation processes.
  • Helping maintain a safe, tidy and welcoming reception environment at all times.

About you

You'll be an organised, approachable and customer-focused individual who enjoys working with people and can confidently manage a busy and varied workload.

We're looking for someone with:

  • Previous administration and/or reception experience.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
  • The ability to prioritise tasks and work independently.
  • A proactive and positive attitude.
  • Experience supporting payroll administration would be advantageous, but is not essential.

About Retirement Villages Group Ltd

Our mission:

The UK’s population is ageing, fast, but the country cannot currently cope with the rising demand for active, independent later living. Too many people are therefore forced to live in inappropriate housing or move into care far too soon.

As a pioneer of later living in the UK we recognise the need. We have set out to create amazing, sustainable communities, connected to thriving local centres, breathing new life into urban and suburban neighbourhoods and country locations.

“Our mission is to create positive life choices for older people - built on community, wellbeing, and flexibility. We strive to support people to live their best lives for longer, while ensuring the planet, and our healthcare system, offer the same opportunities to future generations.“

Our story:

We have been a developer and long-term operator of housing-with-care communities since 1981. We built the first community of its kind in the UK at Elmbridge in Cranleigh, Surrey and today we operate 16 sites across the country with over 1500 self-contained homes.

In 2017, Retirement Villages Group was acquired by AXA IM Alts - Real Assets – a global leader in real asset investments and the leading real estate portfolio and asset manager in Europe – on behalf of their clients to provide long-term, sustainable investment in retirement living.

Supported by AXA IM Alts we have ambitious plans to deliver over 5,000 new homes across over 40 new sites in the next ten years making appropriate housing more accessible to a wider group of older people.
