Receptionist/ Administrative Assistant

Classification: Full time, Permanent

Salary: $21.50 per hour

Location: Williams Lake, BC

The Tŝilhqot’in National Government (TNG) is the official First Nations government serving the Tŝilhqot'in Nation. TNG is located in Williams Lake, British Columbia and serves six communities, including ʔEsdilagh, Tŝideldel, Yuneŝit'in, Tl'etinqox, Xeni Gwet'in, and Tl'esqox.

The Tŝilhqot’in National Government is seeking a full time Receptionist/ Administrative Assistant The Receptionist/ Administrative Assistant will often be the first point of contact for the Tŝilhqot’in National Government, you will welcome and assist guests who visit our offices.

The Receptionist/ Administrative Assistant will offer administrative support across the organization and will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operations of the office, and the execution of administrative functions.

The Receptionist/ Administrative Assistant will act in a professional, courteous manner to assist guests, Leadership, and staff to feel welcome and supported during their visit.

Key Responsibilities

  • Greet and welcome visitors while ensuring a professional and courteous atmosphere
  • Answer and route phone calls, handle inquiries and manage email correspondence efficiently
  • Coordinate room bookings and manage calendars
  • Sort and distribute incoming mail and packages, schedule courier pickups when necessary
  • Assist with various clerical tasks including filing and preparing documents for meetings
  • Monitor and order office supplies, ensure office supplies remain well stocked and organized
  • Support various departments with administrative tasks as required
  • Support with meeting set up including technology requirements
  • Other duties as required

Requirements

  • A minimum of two years of experience in an administrative assistant role
  • Ability to make a variety of guests in the office feel welcome, especially Leaders and Elders
  • Ability to work with all levels of staff in a professional and respectful manner
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
  • Proficiency with all Microsoft Office software, including Outlook, Word, Excel and Teams
  • Exceptional organizational skills
  • Excellent problem solving skills
  • Highly resourceful team player, able to work independently and make sound, informed decisions
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Proven ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Proven ability to build and maintain effective working relationships

Familiarity with the Tŝilhqot’in, and Indigenous organizations is an asset.

Working Conditions

  • Travel may be required
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and additional hardware
  • Overtime as required
  • Lifting or moving up to 15lbs may be required
