Job Description
*** THIS ROLE IS OPEN TO INVITED APPLICANTS ONLY ***
This Role’s Impact
"Because People Matter" and "You're Welcome Here" are more than words on our walls to us; they describe the experience we want every person to have from the moment they call, email, or walk through our doors. The Receptionist is often that first person, turning those words from a sign on the wall into something someone actually feels: proof, in a returned call or a warm hello, of who we really are. In faithfully stewarding this gift of hospitality, this person helps our congregation feel they belong and are cared for, and helps those who don't yet know Jesus take one step closer to Him.
Position-Specific Responsibilities
- Frontline Communication: Be the first point of contact for all incoming phone and email enquiries across every Hope Centre location, covering programs, services and volunteer opportunities, responding directly or routing to the right person, and closing the loop for each enquiry.
- Front Desk & Visitor Reception: Staff the Brisbane front desk during office hours, greeting visitors and suppliers with warmth and professionalism, and keeping the foyer and other public areas presentable.
- Mail and Deliveries: Collect mail from the PO Box and receive incoming deliveries for the Brisbane location, ensuring items reach the right person or team.
- Facilities & Hospitality Upkeep: Prepare shared Sunday hospitality spaces for the weekend ahead by ensuring rooms are clean, consumables are restocked, and linen is laundered.
- Supplies & Ordering: Manage the regular and ad hoc ordering of supplies and their deliveries for the Brisbane location, including groceries, consumables and stationery, keeping everything stocked, rotated and within date as applicable.
Core Support Role Responsibilities
- Empower ministry leaders to shepherd and support those within your ministry, with the primary aim to help every person develop and flourish in their own personal relationship with Jesus Christ (Acts 20:28)
- Provide pastoral care to those belonging to the ministry you support when appropriate, liaising with your location pastor when necessary.
- Be responsible for any rostering, communication, and general care of any teams assigned to you, ensure they have everything they need to serve well
- Steward budgets and finances of the ministry you support within the guidelines and processes outlined by the Hope Centre Finance Team
- Steward physical resources (such as rooms, vehicles and other equipment) associated with the ministry you support
- Participate in all location team meetings and events
- Collaborate with other support team members to share and develop ideas and methods which help support Hope Centre ministries function more effectively and efficiently.
Please be mindful that this is not an exhaustive list of tasks and responsibilities, but serves to highlight the general nature and level of work performed by team members within this role. These complement the heart and attitude carried by every team member as we work together to bring the message of Jesus in a way that transforms people and cities.
