Job Description

Role: Receptionist

Academy: Outwood Academy Foxhills

Start Date: As soon as possible

Working Pattern: 14.5 Hours Per Week, Thursday and Friday, Term Time only

Are you a professional with integrity, imagination, and high energy? Outwood Academy Foxhills is looking for a vibrant individual to serve as the first point of contact for our Academy.

This isn't just a desk job, it’s a vital role at the heart of an Outstanding school. You will be the welcoming face for visitors, the helpful voice for general enquiries, and a key support pillar for our busy administrative team.

What You’ll Do:

  • Lead the Front Desk: Provide a comprehensive, professional reception service to visitors, staff, and students.
  • Coordinate Communications: Act as the primary hub for general enquiries and phone calls.
  • Administrative Excellence: Handle a variety of clerical duties, including word processing and data management.
  • Team Collaboration: Bring a flexible, "can do" approach to assist the wider admin team during peak periods.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Excellent Interpersonal Skills: You are well-presented, articulate, and able to engage naturally with a diverse range of people.
  • Qualifications: You hold a Level 2 qualification (or equivalent) in English and Maths.
  • The Right Attitude: You are adaptable, energetic, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Bonus: Previous experience in an education setting is a plus, but your personality and work ethic are what matter most!

The Receptionist is responsible for providing a professional and efficient Reception service for the academy and administrative support. Key duties include answering incoming communications, greeting and dealing with visitors, and ensuring all visitors are recorded, signed in, and issued lanyards for safeguarding compliance.

The role manages the opening, distribution, and franking of all posts and parcels. The Receptionist provides radio contact for the SLT team and assists with general administrative and typing duties to support the SLT or Principal's PA when requested.

Established experience in a reception or customer service environment is essential. You must demonstrate the ability to engage confidently and effectively with all stakeholders, including visitors, staff, students, and parents/carers, delivering a first-class reception experience.

Success in this role demands strong respect for confidentiality, excellent competency in standard ICT packages (proficiency in Microsoft Office is crucial), and the resilience to perform efficiently and effectively while expertly managing multiple, time-sensitive priorities.
