Job Description

Position Title: Receptionist

Reports to: Program Director

Department: Preserving Housing

Office: HomeBase

Status: Full Time (Non-Exempt)

Supervisory Responsibilities: Yes No X

Salary: $17.04-$19.24 per hour, this is a non-exempt hour position based on a 35 hours work week.

Summary: The Receptionist is responsible for delivering consistent and professional service to customers with social service needs via telephone, in person, e-mail or other forms of communication. The Receptionist will assess and refer customers to appropriate services. Customer needs range from requests for simple information to complex cases with multiple needs requiring research, advocacy and crisis intervention. The Receptionist will also perform data entry operations and assist the case managers with tasks as assigned by the supervisor.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Answer incoming calls on assigned schedule, assessing caller’s needs and making accurate referrals as necessary.
  2. Develop working knowledge of homelessness prevention and human services network in order to help customers effectively access services.
  3. Follow up with customers to determine if referral resulted in needs being met.
  4. Input data collected by customer to provide community resource planning and needs assessment.
  5. Assess and respond to customer needs using active listening skills, conversational intent and a high level of empathy.
  6. Support service delivery in instances of both local, and regional disaster/emergency services activation.
  7. Additional duties and/or responsibilities as may be assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications

Education and/or experience required:

  1. HS Diploma, some college, bi-lingual English-Spanish preferred

Skills, Licenses, and/or competencies required:

  1. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; strong organizational and computer literate.
