Job Title: Receiving Clerk
Department: Warehouse Operations
Reports To: Warehouse Supervisor / Operations Manager
Location: Charlotte, NC
Schedule: 1st Shift
The Receiving Clerk is responsible for accurately receiving, inspecting, and processing inbound shipments within a fast-paced third-party logistics (3PL) warehouse environment. This role ensures inventory accuracy, timely processing of goods, and compliance with company and customer standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive and unload inbound shipments from carriers and vendors.
- Verify shipment contents against purchase orders, packing slips, and ASN documentation.
- Inspect incoming products for damage, shortages, or discrepancies.
- Accurately enter receiving data into the Warehouse Management System (WMS).
- Label, sort, and stage inventory for put-away or cross-dock operations.
- Coordinate with warehouse team members, carriers, and customer service teams regarding receiving issues.
- Maintain inventory accuracy and assist with cycle counts as needed.
- Operate warehouse equipment such as pallet jacks, RF scanners, and forklifts (if certified).
- Ensure compliance with safety procedures, OSHA standards, and company policies.
- Maintain a clean and organized receiving area.
- Support other warehouse functions as business needs require.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- 1–2 years of warehouse or receiving experience, preferably in a 3PL environment.
- Experience using WMS systems and RF scanners preferred.
- Basic computer and data entry skills.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet productivity goals.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift throughout the shift.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds regularly.
- Ability to work in varying warehouse temperatures and conditions.
Preferred Skills
- Forklift certification or ability to become certified.
- Knowledge of inventory control procedures.
- Familiarity with shipping and receiving documentation.
