Job Description

The Receiving Clerk is primarily responsible for verifying and keeping records on incoming shipments. Duties include receiving, verifying and recording incoming merchandise or material. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
  • Ø Ø Greet drivers and to process paperwork, including Bill of Lading, Packing Slips, and additional receiving details. Ø Answer phones and provide directions to the plant; send to waiting area if necessary. Ø Schedule incoming freight raw material, live loads, and LTL. Ø Liaise with the Receiving Operators, Carriers and Dispatch to inform them of truck status. Ø Receive incoming material for railcars. Ø Complete shipment paperwork for Direct Ship orders. Ø Work with Purchasing Department to ensure inventory maintenance and alert them of potential shortages and/or problems. Ø Complete paperwork for intracompany transfers. Ø Understand and follow all company policies, practices and procedures. Ø Follow all plant safety procedures in order to ensure personal safety and the safety of others.

  • Qualifications, Education and Experience:
  • Ø High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Ø Demonstrated ability to work within company values.
  • Ø 1-2 years of experience in a similar position.
  • Ø Strong attention to detail.
  • Ø Ability to read, write and understand the English language.
  • Ø Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Ø Excellent customer service and communication skills required.
  • Ø Basic mathematical proficiency in the addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division of whole numbers and fractions.
  • Ø Proficient computer skills including web-based shipping programs required.
  • Ø Must be self-directed and motivated and able to multi-task in fast-paced, 24/7 manufacturing environment.
  • Ø Work schedule flexibility to accommodate the needs of the business.
