Job Description

Stew Leonard’s, a family-owned and operated fresh food store founded in 1969, has locations in Connecticut, New York, and New Jersey. Assistant Manager, Receiving
Full Time Hourly – Estimated pay range $19.90 to $25.37 depending on qualifications and experience
Must be at least 18 years and older

With limited supervision, assist in the day to day functions of the Receiving department in support of sales and operations with respect to product fulfillment and the supply chain, ensuring the freshest and highest quality products to Stew Leonard’s customers and the safest working environment possible for team members.

Your day-to-day:

• Supervise and assist the receiving and unloading of delivery trucks
• Review daily delivery schedule. Print purchase orders and worksheets to ensure the correct product is delivered and received
• Enter transfers into the transfer system
• Ensure the fulfillment of transfers by assisting in pulling product from warehouse, checking transfer mismatch report and resolving any issues or discrepancies related to transfers
• Ensure proper rotation of products in the warehouse
• Ensure equipment receives periodic maintenance
• Prepare department for scheduled inventories
• Assist in hiring, promoting , and training team members
• Provide timely feedback by completing and delivering comprehensive 90 day and mid-year Performance Chats
• Provide feedback to department manager for Annual Performance Appraisals
• Create schedules and enter them into HRIS system for team members to access at least 2 weeks in advance
• Ensure team member time cards are accurate for weekly payroll processing
• Conduct and/or actively participate in monthly department communication meetings
• Address disciplinary issues in a timely fashion
• Ensure compliance with all employment laws
• Ensure the department is in compliance with all health codes, sanitation and safety regulations
• Ensure representation is present at all monthly Safety Committee Meetings
• Conduct/oversee daily/periodic department cleaning
• Any other projects, as needed

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or equivalent with 1 to 3 years’ experience
• Safely operate a forklift, reach truck, walkie rider and all other equipment used in the day to day operation of the receiving department
• Great customer service skills
• Good computer skills and a basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook, the HRIS system, and Warehouse Management System (WMS)
• Good communications skills, both written and oral
• Good organizational skills
• The ability to delegate tasks and give clear directions
• The ability to multi-task

Working Conditions:

• The temperature in the department is colder than room temperature due to products being highly perishable
• Due to regional climate, the receiving doc may be colder than room temperature as the dock doors open frequently to accept deliveries
• The noise in the department may generally be above a normal level due to the HVAC system
• The position requires frequent walking, standing, lifting, pulling, pushing, squatting and reaching with a maximum of 110lbs.
