The hiring rate/salary for this position is $22.00 per hour.

The Receiver will work in conjunction with the Purchasing Manager to provide excellent customer service to the students, staff, faculty, and vendors. The Receiver is responsible for ensuring the accurate receipt and storing of all items into the storeroom and for all other Culinary Institute of America (CIA), Greystone departments, as required. This position assists in the proper rotation and storage of all Storeroom orders and assisting with product shorts upon delivery. This position is responsible for the accurate entry of all deliveries into the relevant purchasing platform on a timely basis. This position assists customers when picking up orders in Receiving, as well as providing answers to general Storeroom questions. The Receiver is the liaison with the Purchasing Packaging Room, in fulfilling the student staffing requirements, as needed. The Receiver position requires the willingness, knowledge and ability to move to any area of the Storeroom/Purchasing and work as demand dictates.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Adheres to all institute standard operating procedures related to the storage and rotation of incoming products. Assesses and independently provides prompt solutions regarding any issues that occur due to storage, incoming products and product rotations. Provides the Manager with root cause analysis and solutions for any issues that occur.
- Confirms the proper receipt of all food & beverage deliveries for quantity (weights and/or counts delivered vs. ordered) and quality (e. damaged boxes, spoiled produce, broken bottles, etc.) upon receipt.
- Ensures items are being weighed upon receipt and meet educational specifications. Uses position’s authority to return out of specification product(s) for credit. Provides feedback to Buyers on the quality of items received from individual vendors.
- Informs Purchasing Manager of any noted variance in quoted or contracted pricing.
- Ensures that “request for credit or debit” or return procedures are adhered to and reflected on invoices.
- Manages the entry of all food & beverage receiving information into the Eatec system in a timely manner.
- Supervises and assists in placing food & beverage supplies in their proper storage Determines any changes that need to be made for efficiency or effectiveness in storage areas. Reports all issues to the Manager, with root cause analysis and solutions.
- Ensures that all products are being properly stored and rotated using the First In, First Out (FIFO) method and following any established principles.
- Ensures all liquor is secured in Beverage storeroom upon receipt.
- Works with Purchasing Stock Keeper to ensure items stored or issued for requisitions are in compliance with Institute standards.
- Ensures that all “out of stock” items are effectively communicated to the Buyer and the Chefs and/or students picking up the order.
- Maintains knowledge of all product lines handled within the warehouse.
- Greets and assists all customers to the receiving area in a professional, courteous, helpful, and friendly manner.
- Provides proficient and proactive customer service either in person or on the phone.
- Completes all designated cleaning assignments and work to ensure the general safety and sanitation of the facility.
- Assists in any area of the Storeroom as demand required.
- Assists in any routine and monthly inventories as required.
- Any and all other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
- High school diploma or GED.
Experience:
- A minimum of one (1) year of experience working in a Food Service environment / warehouse or related experience.
Licenses / Certifications:
- Valid Forklift Certification, or the ability to become certified.
- Valid ServSafe Food handler certificate, or the ability to become certified.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Associates degree in Business, Hospitality or related field.
- Higher Education working experience.
- Graduate of an accredited culinary school.
- Bilingual in Spanish.
- Purchasing/inventory system experience with EATEC or similar system.
- Customer service experience with problem solving skills.
- Ability to multi-task and handle high volume workload.
- Familiarity with procedures to receive packages through ‘Track It’ System, when needed.

- Skilled in the operation of standard warehouse equipment.
- Intermediate level math proficiency.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with diverse stakeholders.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Must be available to work overtime on nights and weekends based upon business needs.
- Regular work requires a great deal of sitting, standing, lifting, bending and stretching.
- Must be able to stand for eight (8) hours.
- Ability to work in extreme temperatures hot and cold for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to lift and move up to 100 lbs. or more with assistance.
