Job Description

In business for over 50 years, Ocean Steel’s Rebar Division cuts, bends and installs reinforcing  steel for poured-in-placed concrete work. Ocean Steel Rebar’s plant capacity is currently 10,000+ tons. Estimating, detailing, shop scheduling, tagging and shipping is performed using a computerized production management system. Rebar shop drawings are prepared using the latest 3D CAD technology to CSA, CRSI and ASTM specifications. Rebar is installed using in-house or subcontracted field crews depending on the project requirements.  Projects have been completed projects in various regions of Canada and Bermuda.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing construction sites for rebar installation.
• Read and interpret blueprints to determine rebar placement and requirements. (Blueprint knowledge is not required to start)
• Position and secure rebar, mesh, rods, and cables in concrete forms.
• Tie rebar together using wire and pliers.
• Ensure proper alignment and spacing of rebar and mesh.
• Clean and organize work areas to maintain safety and efficiency.

Requirements

• This position requires you to travel to various locations - a car is required
• Ability to lift, carry, and move rebar bundles (50 lbs) repeatedly throughout the day
• This position requires a lot of bending, and repetitive tasks for extended periods
• Tolerance for heat, cold, rain, snow, and other weather conditions
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
