Responsible for detailing rebar from contractor drawings, plans or blueprints. Assist with training junior level Detailers. Investigate ways to integrate new technologies into rebar fabrication operations.
Major Tasks, Responsibilities, and Key Accountabilities
- Read construction drawings and specifications and extract information to produce reinforcing bar-lists.
- Ensure proper coding of all bar lists
- Develop a working knowledge of CRSI Manual of Standard Practice, reinforced concrete construction and other industry practices
- Review and verify date of contract documents (plans, addenda and specs) received and compare against the date on proposal/estimate
- Communicate with customer, placer and A/E (Architect/Engineer) on all questions relating to project; submit RFI’s (Request for Information) as required
- Assist Manager in the review of “listed” projects, help resolve discrepancies, enter bar-lists and coordinate the field’s requirement for delivery of material
- Under the direction of management, be involved in all construction conflicts/disputes (whether contractor, placer, detailer or shop), and help with a resolution that is a time and cost-effective solution
- Compare the progression of project detailed weight against contract weight
- Identify and develop information required to inform customer of any changes (time and/or material) to the contract, including the completion of the change order form
- Review all claims of shortages or errors
- Work with job site personnel to determine project requirements for listing and delivery of materials
- ASA Rebar software including ASA Studio Barlisting, Order Processing, & Estimating.
- Microstation Drafting and ASA rebar software.
Nature and Scope
- Demonstrates skill in data analysis techniques by resolving missing/incomplete information and inconsistencies/anomalies in more complex research/data.
- Nature of work requires increasing independence; receives guidance only on unusual, complex problems or issues. Work review typically involves periodic review of output by a supervisor and/or direct customers of the process.
- May provide general guidance/direction to or train junior level support or professional personnel.
Work Environment
- Typically located in a comfortable indoor area. There may be regular exposure to mild physical discomfort from factors, such as dust, fumes or odors, temperature extremes, loud noise, strong drafts, or bright lights.
- Most of the time is spent sitting or standing in the same location and/or there may be a need to stoop regularly or move/lift light material or equipment (typically less than 8 pounds).
- Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.
Education and Experience
- Typically requires BS/BA in a related discipline. Generally 2-5 years of experience in a related field OR MS/MA and generally 2-4 years of experience in a related field. Certification is required in some areas.
