Position Overview:

The Real Property Clerk serves the public with recording real estate documents in the Harris County Clerk's Office. The Clerk verifies each document submitted meets statutory requirements for recording.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assists the public by phone, in person and mail
  • Processes customer documents according to office procedures and statutory requirements
  • Verifies customer documents meet statutory requirements
  • Identifies pertinent information in a document to aid in the creation of the index
  • Creates and fulfills copy orders
  • Computes fees
  • Balances register and creates financial reports
  • Maintains filing systems

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent from an accredited educational institution.
  • Six (6) months of clerical work experience.

Qualifications

  • Two (2) years clerical work experience.
  • Strong retention ability.
  • Strong comprehension, attention to detail, and communication skills.

  • Monday - Friday | 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
  • Overtime as needed.

Salary:

  • $20.00 Hourly
  • Based on 26 pay periods

  • Civil Courthouse - 201 Caroline Houston, Texas 77002
  • This position does not include paid parking; a subsidized Harris County Metro card is available after employees receive their first paycheck.

Employment is contingent upon passing a background check and drug screen.
