The Real Property Appraiser performs responsible administrative and technical work in real estate appraising for the Tax Department. An employee in this class performs intermediate skilled technical work appraising, assessing and reassessing real property for tax purposes, conducting field investigations, assisting citizens with real property appraisal and tax matters and performing related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under regular supervision and is evaluated through conferences, review of work, records and documents and feedback from citizens.
Education and Experience:
Must have a high school diploma or equivalent; Requires an Associate’s degree and two (2) years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The work is light work which requires exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force to move objects. Tasks may require the following abilities: walking, sitting, speaking, hearing, using hands to finger, handling, feeling, repetitive motions, pushing, pulling, standing, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching with hands and arms, and lifting Requires mental acuity including the ability to make rational decisions through sound logic and deductive processes, the ability to express ideas by means of the spoken word and have the visual acuity to prepare and analyze written or computer data, use measuring devices, operate motor vehicles or equipment, and observe general surroundings and activities.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work is performed in a relatively safe, and secure work environment, both indoors and outdoors. Work regularly requires exposure to outdoor weather conditions and occasionally requires working near moving mechanical parts and working in high, precarious places. Work is generally performed in a moderately noisy locations.
