Team / division overview

The DWS Alternatives business is a diversified set of business activities with approximately EUR 150bn in assets under management in strategies including Private Real Estate, Private Infrastructure, Alternative Credit, Liquid Real Assets (Real Estate/Infrastructure and Commodity Securities) and Sustainable Investments. The global team invests on behalf of a global client base that includes governments, corporations, institutional investors, as well as a growing UNHW investor group.

Alternatives Coverage is part of the DWS Client Coverage Division and are the Alternatives Specialists responsible for supporting the development and maintenance of client relationships on behalf of the Alternatives platform and will work closely with the Investment teams, Product Division and broader Global Client Coverage Division.

The Real Estate division of DWS which is a full-service Real Estate manager with EUR 63 billion in assets under management globally and EUR 26 billion in Europe that acquires and manages investments in individual assets or Real Estate portfolios on behalf of funds and separate accounts

Your responsibilities

As a Team Lead for Real Estate Capital Raising and Investor Relations, you will be responsible for:

• Lead fundraising and capital raising activities for the DWS EMEA and APAC Real Estate platform across the DACH region, delivering on defined AUM growth and fundraising targets.
• Lead, mentor and develop a team of Real Estate Specialists, fostering a high-performance, client-focused sales and excellence culture driving individual and team fundraising results including oversight of Investor Relations and German institutional investor base
• Develop and execute a proactive sales strategy focused on winning new mandates, raising capital, and deepening relationships with institutional investors, pension funds, insurance companies, family offices, foundations, consultants and other key allocators for pooled funds and separate account mandates.
• Personally originate, manage and convert a robust pipeline of fundraising opportunities, maintaining direct ownership of senior investor relationships from initial engagement through to commitment, leading strategic negotiations to close new capital
• Collaborate closely with Generalist Sales, and Investment teams to position investment strategies effectively, execute Real Estate campaigns, fund raising initiatives to maximise conversion of sales opportunities into capital commitments.
• Work with Head of Coverage EMEA Real Estate, senior real estate management, investment teams and product leadership to define commercial priorities, market penetration strategies and go-to-market plans for Real Estate products and investment solutions.
• Organise and participate in meetings and events with existing and prospective clients including one-on-one meetings, roadshows
• Represent DWS and the Real Estate platform at client meetings, industry conferences, investment forums and fundraising events across the DACH market.
• Collaborate closely with internal product and legal teams to coordinate the development, structuring, and launch of new products
• Maintain deep knowledge of market trends, competitor activity and investor demand to identify emerging business opportunities, influence product development and drive sustainable fundraising growth.
• Work closely with the regional Alternatives and Client Coverage Division (CCD) COO team and the global Alternatives leadership.

We are looking for

• 15 years+ experience in capital raising, institutional sales or business development and investor relations within Real Estate, with a demonstrable track record of fundraising success.
• Proven ability to originate, develop and close new business opportunities, with an established network of institutional investors across the DACH region to deliver measurable fundraising outcomes.
• Strong understanding of Real Estate investment strategies, fund vehicles, separate accounts and co-investment solutions.
• Demonstrated experience leading and developing high-performing sales teams while maintaining personal responsibility for senior client relationships and revenue generation.
• Highly commercial mindset with strong business development, negotiation and relationship management skills.
• Ability to engage credibly with C-suite executives, investment committees, consultants and senior investor stakeholders.
• Excellent communication, presentation and influencing skills with the ability to articulate complex investment propositions to sophisticated investors.
• Self-motivated, entrepreneurial and results-oriented individual who thrives in a fast-paced, client-facing environment.
• Strong written skills and attention to detail
• Proven ability to leverage AI tools to enhance productivity, optimise workflows to solve business problems, while applying critical judgment to ensure responsible and ethical use of data and AI outputs.
• Native or fluent German and English required, with the ability to operate effectively across international and cross-functional stakeholder groups.
