Roche Diagnostics Cape Town is seeking a Reagent Manufacturing Scientist to join their team on a 1 year fixed-term contract
As a Reagent Manufacturing Scientist you will conduct and monitor production activities or laboratory experiments utilizing established and published procedures or batch records and technical and theoretical understanding, whilst maintaining quality and managing schedules and workflow to accomplish assigned objectives.
You will play a vital role in ensuring the high-quality production of life-saving molecular solutions. You will join a collaborative team where technical precision meets a passion for patient impact.
Key Challenges
Conduct and monitor production activities or laboratory experiments utilizing established and published procedures or batch records and technical and theoretical understanding while managing schedules and workflow to accomplish assigned objectives or schedules.
Assumes responsibility for the accuracy, quality, and timeliness of production work or testing activities. Summarizes batch or experimental results, and uses technical writing skills to produce clear reports, documents, and summaries.Effectively communicate results/ experimental outcomes and project status to supervisor and/or project leaders, proactively highlighting significant findings or critical problem areas.
Analyzes and interprets test results, experimental data using various data analysis software, spreadsheets and or applying quantitative methods. Present findings at internal team meetings as required.
Assumes accountability for batch record, hard copy or electronic lab notebook documentation, ensuring experimental methods and results are recorded timely, accurately and consistently, and according to established formats.
May troubleshoot issues related to equipment or instrumentation. With guidance, analyzes and brainstorms alternative approaches to solve problems, makes recommendations and implements solutions to solve problems.
Establish and maintain positive internal, cross-functional, and (where applicable) customer relationships.
Other duties as assigned by management.
Who You Are as an Ideal Candidate
Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor's degree in Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, Chemical/Biochemical Engineering, or a related scientific discipline or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
3 years of relevant industry experience or general laboratory experience
In the absence of relevant qualifications, experience in the relevant field and at the relevant level will be considered.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Ability to execute relevant laboratory experimentation. Hands-on experience with standard molecular biology and biochemistry lab techniques.
Demonstrated ability to follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), Manufacturing Instructions (MI) and Work Instructions (WI) documents. Working knowledge of relevant international ISO Standards (13485) would be advantageous.
Demonstrated competency in reading and completing charts, forms, and other documents.
Ability to use a personal computer with basic word-processing and spreadsheet applications.
Excellent written and verbal communication and personal task management skills
Accountability, the ability to multitask, perform consistently under pressure and work without supervision.
Experience and understanding of protein purification techniques and enzyme analysis. Experience with AKTAs (FPLC) or HPLC will be advantageous.
