Job Description

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Responsible for ensuring daily maintenance of the plant is completed.
  • Responsible for routine and daily housekeeping duties to ensure a clean plant and yard.
  • Perform general laboring duties such as raking and shoveling material.
  • Safely and properly perform maintenance (lubricating, fueling, and cleaning).
  • Communicate timely and effectively with plant supervisor regarding any issues pertaining to the plant, yard or equipment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Maintain good attendance and safety record and set an example for others to follow.
  • Communicate effectively to co-workers, management, suppliers, and others you encounter.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and willing to travel to various plant locations as needed.
  • Must be able to work overtime and be flexible with hours (daytime/nighttime). Shifts may vary according to project/schedule demands.
  • Must have a “Safety First” attitude. Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures is required.
  • Experience around ready-mix plants, asphalt plants and/or rock crushers and heavy equipment.
  • Basic knowledge of plant operation, conveyor systems and maintenance preferred.
  • Must have good mechanical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Able to operate small hand tools.

Physical & Environmental Demands:

  • Extensive walking on uneven surfaces.
  • May Lift and carry up to 100 pounds.
  • Exposure to dust, fumes, odors, mists, adhesives and acids.
  • Hand eye coordination.
  • Frequent and/or extended periods requiring standing, stooping, kneeling, bending, climbing, and/or twisting.
  • Ability to work at night under artificial lighting, as needed.
  • Working in all weather conditions for extended period of time
