Role: Reactor and Systems Performance Consultant
Salary range: £50,000–£65,000 per annum depending on experience
Location: Manchester, Burton, Bristol, Gloucester or Glasgow
Working Pattern: We operate a flexible hybrid working pattern at Frazer-Nash, with time split between the office, client sites and working from home.

Why this Role?
As aReactor and Systems Performance modeller, you will apply advanced analytical techniques and modelling tools to understand and explain complex behavioursin nuclear systems. You will contribute across the full consultancy lifecycle, from technical analysis and interpretation through to client engagement and business development.
Taking the lead
You will manage technical work packages, engage directly with clients, and support project delivery, whilecollaborating with supportive colleagues and mentoringand guiding less experienced engineers.
Variety of work
Our consultants typically work on multiple projects at once, ranging from short, focused studies tolong‑termprogramme support across the nuclear lifecycle.
Growing capability
You will contribute to winning work, client discussions, and the continued growth of ourreactor and systems performancecapability across existing and emerging nuclear programmes.
Key responsibilities include:
Developing andmaintainingmodels of nuclear plant systems usingindustry‑standardcodes,
Analysingplant performanceunder a wide range of operating scenariosto inform design decisions and nuclear safety cases,
Providing authoritative interpretation of model results and underlying physical phenomena,
Supporting model verification, validation, andbest‑practiceapplication,
Communicating complex technical outputs clearly and concisely to clients, regulators, and internal stakeholders.
WhatWe’reLooking For
Technical experience:
Demonstrable experience inthe application of your technical discipline within thefissionnuclear industry, supportingplant design and/or operations,
A strong understanding oftheunderlying physics and engineering principals that underpin your technical discipline,
A degree in Engineering, Physics, Applied Mathematics, or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience,
Ability to interpret,validate, and clearly explain complex modelling outputs.
Personal and consultancy skills:
Ability to independently manage and deliver work to meet client requirements
Experience contributing to proposal writing, client liaison, and business development
Theability and desire to apply your knowledge andexpertiseto adjacent disciplines – broadening yourportfolio of experience andsupporting our clients in a flexible manner.
Strong communicationskills, with the ability to engage effectively through meetings, presentations, written reports, commercial bids, and technical discussions
The ability to work as part of a broad team, including supporting colleagueswithformal and informal mentoring andtraining
Due to the nature of the work that Frazer‑Nash Consultancy undertakes, candidates will be required to undergo pre‑employment screening and must be able to satisfy clearance criteria for UK National Security Vetting.
