Job Description

On behalf of our client, we are supporting to recruit a Re-tube Tooling Expert to work in accordance with the prescribed safety procedures and regulations.

The Retube Tooling Expert serves as the technical authority for all retube tooling and process activities, ensuring that tooling design, testing, and maintenance programs are robust, compliant, and fully capable of meeting project requirements. The role provides expert oversight and acts as the primary technical interface between tooling contractors and the project owner, ensuring that all tools and processes are prepared, qualified, and performed as intended during field execution. When tooling performance issues arise, the Retube Tooling Expert applies advanced technical knowledge to diagnose problems, identify root causes, and implement effective corrective actions to maintain schedule, safety, and quality objectives.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Support Retube and Feeder Replacement (RFR) superintendent within the Engineering Department in the evaluation for acceptance of detailed solutions, technical specifications, implementation, and test plans with respect to retube activities.
• Provide oversight and verification of the complex implementation and test plans for critical activities in the retube areas.
• Review and accept work packages, work instructions, tooling operating procedures, tooling test plans, test reports and other retube related deliverables from the contractor(s) using similar past projects experience.
• Witness tool testing to detect deficiencies and ensure their expeditious resolution by the contractor(s). · Provide feeder, tubing and Nuclear Steam Plant refurbishment-related support on a need basis.
• Using expertise and experience from similar previous projects, participate in problem solving/technical discussions related to process issues or tooling performance issues.
• Monitor and ensure that retube activities are performed in accordance with approved project procedures, schedule, budget, and relevant QA processes.
• Define and manage interfaces and scope of work to ensure adequate integration and alignment with the project priorities.
• Provide retube tooling design and operation expertise and verify system-level design documentation.
• Provide assurance that design and manufacturing activities are performed in accordance with written and approved policy, standards, programs, and applicable procedures.
• Adhere to on-time/on-budget criteria associated with RFR commitments and success
• Supports CNPSA policies, values, and safety culture in all activities · Adheres to CNPSA quality management system.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

We are seeking a dynamic and results-driven professional who has the following:

• Minimum 10 years relevant experience, with at least 7 years specifically working on CANDU retube projects.

Core Requirements:

• Direct involvement at site as a tooling and process SME in at least two CANDU reactor retube projects, including at least one CANDU 6 reactor.
• Expert-level knowledge on CANDU reactor retubing removal, inspection and installation tools and process.
• Site experience with retube tools testing, maintenance, diagnosing, troubleshooting, commissioning and qualification.
• Good understanding of the risk that each tool poses to permanent reactor components.
• Familiarity with tools critical spare parts. · Experience with preparation of maintenance plan for each tool.
• Intermediate level knowledge on feeders and tubing removal, installation tooling and processes.

System Knowledge:

• In depth knowledge of site outage/installation/maintenance of CANDU Nuclear Power Plants.
• Comprehensive understanding of CANDU technology and operations, with expertise in NSP systems

• Clear and Professional Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical matters to engineers, operators, management, and contractor personnel. Skilled in documenting decisions, producing clear technical inputs, and sharing information effectively.

EDUCATION

University Degree in Engineering / Technical Diploma with a minimum of 10 years of direct experience as a tooling and process SME for CANDU reactor retubing project
