Role Title:Re-Insurance SME

The purpose of this role is to serve as a Reinsurance Subject Matter Expert (SME), supporting end-to-end ceded reinsurance operations and providing analytical and strategic insights to enhance operational effectiveness. This role requires close collaboration with underwriting, actuarial, finance, claims and external stakeholders to ensure the accurate administration of reinsurance arrangements while identifying opportunities for process improvement and optimisation.

In addition to managing day-to-day operational activities, the role will play a key part in driving continuous improvement initiatives and delivering meaningful analysis to support business decision-making.

As part of your duties, you will be responsible for:

  • Managing end-to-end ceded reinsurance operations, including treaty administration, accounting, settlements and reporting activities.
  • Acting as a trusted advisor and subject matter expert to stakeholders, identifying process gaps and driving operational excellence initiatives.
  • Ensuring accurate interpretation and execution of treaty terms and maintaining compliance with contractual and regulatory requirements.
  • Performing financial analysis, data reconciliations and bordereaux reporting for ceded reinsurance portfolios.
  • Delivering data-driven insights on portfolio performance, loss trends and financial impacts to support strategic decision-making.
  • Collaborating closely with underwriting, actuarial, finance, claims and external counterparties to ensure effective management of ceded reinsurance programmes.
  • Supporting and enhancing reporting capabilities, metrics and dashboards to improve transparency and business performance.
  • Participating in tactical and strategic projects aimed at increasing efficiency, automation and quality across ceded reinsurance processes.
  • Providing analytical support and recommendations that move beyond transactional processing and enable informed business decisions.
  • Supporting the implementation of process improvements, controls and best practices across reinsurance operations.

Qualifications and experience we consider to be essential for the role:

  • 8+ years' experience in reinsurance or outward reinsurance operations, with strong knowledge of ceded reinsurance processes.
  • Deep understanding of treaty administration, accounting, settlements and reporting requirements.
  • Experience working within the London Market insurance environment is preferred.
  • Strong analytical capabilities and experience working with large and complex data sets.
  • Ability to interpret and analyse portfolio performance and financial trends to provide actionable insights.
  • Proven ability to identify opportunities for process optimisation and drive continuous improvement.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across multiple functions.
  • Solution-focused mindset with a passion for operational excellence and innovation.
  • Enthusiasm to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and challenge existing ways of working to deliver better outcomes.
  • Strong team player with the ability to build effective relationships and contribute to a collaborative culture.
