Skills & Competencies:
- 8+ years of experience in development on IBM Mainframe, z/OS.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher, preferably in Computer Science.
- Technical proficiency in z/OS Assembler (HLASM).
- Skilled in identifying and resolving critical issues using z/XDC and IPCS.
- Proficiency in core z/OS utilities, including REXX, ISPF, and JCL
- Experience with testing and QA practices in Agile development.
- Practical experience working on complex software projects.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to understand complex component relationships.
- Ability to provide technical guidance and mentor software engineers.
- Strong industry-wide technical knowledge.
- Exposure to Agile development methodologies.
- Growth mindset with a commitment to continuous personal and professional development.
Responsibilities:
- Design, code, and test complex modules to meet functional and business requirements on schedule.
- Perform unit and module testing.
- Participate in test plan, design, and code reviews.
- Design, develop, and maintain automated tests.
- Analyze complex issues and exercise judgment in selecting methods and evaluation criteria.
- Evaluate software performance impact and recommend design changes.
- Stay current with emerging themes in software development and testing.
- Write and maintain documentation for program development, logic, and corrections.
- Provide product content to technical writers.
- Assist in strategic research and design.
- Contribute to improving departmental processes and procedures.
- Develop and communicate project plans and timelines to management.
- Mentor and serve as a knowledge resource for junior engineers.
