R&D Scientist / Engineer (Semiconductor Technologies)

  • You are responsible for planning and leading joint development programs (JDPs) and short-term R&D projects, leveraging your expertise in gas chemistry, physics, semiconductor technologies and research methodologies to support the growth of Nippon Sanso's Electronics Business in Europe.
  • You plan and execute the development of process models for etching technologies, using experimental setups and computational chemistry tools.
  • You plan and execute the development of new precursor materials through close collaboration with Nippon Sanso Japan and external partners.
  • You support sales teams and project managers in launching and marketing new etching gases and precursor solutions.
  • You facilitate technical review meetings with semiconductor engineers and researchers to identify technical challenges and translate them into business opportunities.
  • You plan and implement short-term R&D projects to provide innovative solutions to semiconductor customers.
  • You support the activities of the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) and R&D subgroup within the Nippon Sanso Electronics Center of Excellence, an international network of experts focused on innovation and knowledge sharing.
  • You contribute to scientific publications and support presentations at conferences and exhibitions to strengthen the visibility and reputation of the Nippon Sanso Group.
  • You ensure the safe execution of experiments and compliance with all applicable regulations, including occupational health & safety, export control and local legal requirements.
  • You maintain continuous communication with semiconductor customers and internal stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
  • You proactively identify opportunities for new R&D initiatives and contribute to the expansion of the group's technological capabilities.
  • You report directly to the Electronics R&D Manager.

Job requirements

  • You hold a Master's degree or PhD in Physics, Chemistry, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Semiconductor Engineering, Applied Physics or a related scientific or engineering discipline.
  • You have at least 3 years of experience in research, development or advanced engineering activities.
    You have a strong interest in semiconductor technologies and enjoy translating scientific insights into practical business opportunities.
  • You have a good understanding of gas chemistry, process engineering, materials science or related technical fields.
  • You are familiar with computational chemistry tools or simulation software such as Gaussian, Spartan, COMSOL, ANSYS
  • Fluent, Chemkin or similar, or are willing to further develop these skills.
  • Experience with data analysis, statistics and scientific modelling is considered a strong asset.
  • You possess strong project management and organizational skills and can manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • You communicate fluently in English and are comfortable working in an international and multicultural environment.
  • Knowledge of export/import procedures, regulatory compliance or quality systems is considered an asset.
  • You are willing to travel occasionally within and outside Europe.
  • You are a curious, innovative and results-oriented professional who enjoys tackling complex challenges and exploring new frontiers.
  • You are flexible and adaptable, able to respond effectively to changing priorities and evolving project requirements.
