As an R&D Researcher/Engineer, you will join the Hitachi Energy Technology community at our Zaragoza (Spain) location. In this role, you will be part of our multidisciplinary R&D Team, contributing to the development and optimization of technologies related to the electrical and mechanical performance of dry-type transformers.
How you'll make an impact:
Lead and execute R&D projects related to the electrical, dielectric and/or mechanical performance of dry‑type transformers, ensuring alignment with the technology roadmap.
Investigate, propose and validate innovative design concepts, applying advanced theoretical knowledge in dielectric and electromagnetic physics, magnetic materials and insulation systems.
Define and execute research and validation plans, oversee prototype manufacturing and testing (including dielectric and electromagnetic characterization), and translate results into design rules for product development.
Collaborate closely with expert teams across the global Hitachi Energy R&D community to explore emerging technologies, future scenarios and long‑term innovation opportunities.
Contribute to intellectual property generation by assessing novelty, supporting patent applications and protecting validated solutions.
Provide specialized technical support to factories, sales teams and customers, particularly on topics related to dielectric behavior, electromagnetic performance and insulation reliability.

Your background
BSc or MSc in Electrical, Electronic, Telecommunication Engineering, Materials Science or Physics.
Understanding of electromagnetic, dielectric and/or thermal phenomena in materials, components or electrical systems; experience with insulation systems or applied electromagnetics will be valued.Background in FEM simulation tools (preferably ANSYS Maxwell or COMSOL); experience in field distribution, thermal modelling or multi physics analysis is a plus.
Basic programming skills (e.g. VBA, .NET or MATLAB) and familiarity with data processing or automation will be considered an advantage.
Interest in participating in R&D project activities, from theoretical analysis to laboratory validation, prototype testing and documentation.
Initiative, creativity, analytical thinking and strong attention to detail, with a collaborative and solution‑oriented mindset.
Fluent in Spanish and English, both written and spoken, with the ability to communicate technical concepts clearly.
*Candidate should be based in or willing to relocate to Zaragoza.
