About the Role

Are you passionate about cutting-edge technology, system modeling, and driving breakthrough R&D initiatives? As a Project Manager at Verhaert On-site Consulting, you will be embedded at our client, leading high-impact research projects that shape the future of computer architectures.

In this temporary assignment, you will bridge the gap between technical vision and execution. Working closely with the technical lead and multidisciplinary teams, you will balance customer ambitions with available resources, establish efficient ways of working, and ensure key milestones are delivered seamlessly.

What You Will Do

As an R&D Project Manager, you take ownership of the project lifecycle and process optimization:

• Project Scope & Resource Alignment: Conduct internal assessments of required resources, define milestones and deliverables, assemble project teams, and map out critical dependencies.
• Stakeholder & Resource Balance: Collaborate with technical leads to balance customer requirements with imec’s resource availability and strategic priorities.
• Way of Working: Set up transparent operational frameworks for the team, including meeting rhythms, documentation standards, and reporting channels.
• Progress & Performance Monitoring: Track key deliverables, monitor critical lot progress, and create resource dashboards to ensure alignment with the approved plan.
• Risk & Issue Management: Proactively identify risks and bottlenecks, assess their potential impact, and escalate to higher management when necessary.
• Process Optimization & Methodology: Explore value creation opportunities in workflows across different units, contributing to the continuous improvement of overall project management methodologies.

What You Bring to the Team

We are looking for a result-oriented consultant with strong relationship-building skills who thrives in a dynamic matrix organization:

• Education: Master’s degree, preferably in Computer Architecture, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience: Proven track record in project management, change management, and technical project delivery.
• Domain Knowledge: Experience or strong familiarity with computer architectures, instruction set architectures (ISAs), system simulation (e.g., gem5, SST), and system performance modeling is highly valued.
• Soft Skills: Excellent customer focus, result-driven mindset, and strong interpersonal skills to collaborate across cross-functional units and expertise centers.
• Adaptability: Comfortable working within a complex, multi-stakeholder matrix structure.
