Job Description

About the role:

The R&D Pilot Plant Technologist is responsible for the daily operations of the Pilot Plant laboratory, performing hands-on tasks related to pilot-scale production. This role focuses on the practical execution of laboratory activities, including raw material preparation, operation of semi-industrial equipment, and accurate documentation of production results. The R&D Pilot Plant Technologist works closely with the Pilot Plant team and internal stakeholders to ensure timely and precise execution of assigned tasks but also supporting the preparation and packaging of samples for internal and customer requests.In more complex matters, the R&D Pilot Plant Technologist receives guidance from the R&D Pilot Plant Specialist or Technical R&D Manager.

Key responsibilities:

  • Operate and monitor pilot plant equipment, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.
  • Prepare raw materials according to provided formulations and lead pilot-scale production runs.
  • Maintain high hygienic condition of equipment and work areas.
  • Support preventive maintenance activities and report technical issues promptly.
  • Assist in packaging and shipping of samples for internal and customer requests.
  • Follow all workplace safety, product safety, and hygiene protocols.
  • Hands-on execution of laboratory tasks and pilot-scale trials.
  • Preparation and handling of raw materials.
  • Basic laboratory analyses (e.g., fineness, moisture, and rheology).
  • Data entry and documentation in internal systems (e.g., SAP, Salesforce, excel).
  • Collaboration with team members to ensure smooth daily operations.
  • Knowledge & expertise sharing in collaboration with other departments.

About you:

  • High education in gastronomy, food science, or related fields from confectionary.
  • Computer skills (MS Office Suite and database management).
  • Communicative level of English.
  • Willingness to work with laboratory equipment and semi-industrial machines.
  • Accurate, organized, and highly committed.
  • Sanitary and epidemiological permission.
  • SEP - appropriate electrical qualifications.
