Position: R&D Manager

Location: Ahmedabad, Gujarat

Function: Research & Development

Reporting To: Associate Director – R&D

The R&D Manager will be responsible for the development and commercialisation of dry powder blend formulations within the food and nutrition category. This role requires strong hands-on expertise in formulation design, ingredient interactions, functional ingredients, and analytical testing. The individual will work closely with business, regulatory, and cross-functional teams to translate commercial briefs into technically sound, regulatory-compliant products for everyday and sports nutrition applications.

Key Responsibilities

• Work on product development briefs received from the business team and convert them into viable formulations.

• Design, develop, and optimize dry powder blend formulations for relevant applications.

• Plan and execute laboratory and pilot-scale trials as per approved development plans.

• Independently conduct hands-on trials, troubleshooting, and formulation optimization.

• Demonstrate strong understanding of functional ingredients used in food and sports nutrition.

• Apply sound knowledge of ingredient interactions, compatibility, stability, and sensory impact.

• Perform and interpret analytical testing related to nutritional, physical, and functional parameters.

• Ensure products meet applicable regulatory requirements for food and nutrition products.

• Prepare and maintain technical documentation, including formulation records and trial reports.

• Support technology transfer from R&D to manufacturing.

Required Experience

• Minimum 7 years of hands-on experience in food industry with atleast 3 years in powders blending and manufacturing.

• Experience in product development for everyday nutrition and/or sports nutrition.

• Proven experience working as an individual contributor in an R&D environment. Technical & Functional Competencies

• Expertise in dry blending technologies and powder formulations.

• Strong knowledge of functional ingredients for food and sports nutrition.

• Clear understanding of ingredient interactions, stability, and shelf-life.

• Working knowledge of analytical testing methods for food products.

• Good understanding of regulatory requirements for food and nutrition products.

• Strong problem-solving and formulation troubleshooting skills.

Educational Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Food Technology, Food Science, Nutrition, Dairy Technology, or related discipline.

Behavioral & Professional Skills

• Strong ownership and accountability.

• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

• Clear technical communication and documentation skills.

• Collaborative mindset with cross-functional teams.
