We are seeking a skilled and motivated Machinist who is eager to grow into a Supervisory role. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical machining skills and will be responsible for fabricating parts using conventional milling machinery. This position involves setting up, operating, and maintaining various machines to produce precision parts, guards, and instruments, requiring the ability to interpret blueprints, use precision measuring devices, and ensure adherence to specifications.
This role offers a path toward advancement, with mentorship and training designed to prepare the successful candidate for an R&D Supervisor position.
Key Responsibilities:
Machining Operations:
Set up and operate conventional milling equipment such as Bridgeport Milling Machines, lathes, and grinders.
Interpret blueprints/sketches/work instructions to produce parts to specification.
Verify part dimensions using precision measuring instruments.
Machine Guarding:
Fabricate, inspect, install, and maintain machine guards, barriers, and safety devices in compliance with OSHA standards (29 CFR 1910 Subpart O)
Work with the EHS Manager to evaluate equipment and identify guarding deficiencies.
Recommend engineering controls and design improvements to reduce exposure to mechanical hazards.
Continuous Improvement:
Participate in safety committees and support initiatives to enhance safety culture.
Recommend process improvements that improve safety, efficiency, and quality.
Support “6S” and Lean Manufacturing initiatives.
Leadership Development
Assist in training and mentoring junior machinists and apprentices.
Learn and apply principles of workflow coordination, job scheduling, and resource allocation.
Support supervisory duties such as tracking production metrics, maintaining safety compliance, and managing shop organization.
Participate in leadership training and professional development activities provided by the company.

7-10 years of experience as a machinist.
High school diploma or GED.
This position requires a valid driver's license.
Preferred:
Candidate will have a proven welding experience, including the ability to perform [MIG/TIG/Stick] welding safely and to specifications. Welding certification and experience working from technical drawings are highly desirable.
OSHA 10 or 30-hour General Industry certification.
Working knowledge of OSHA machine guarding requirements and safe machine operation practices.
Experience designing or fabricating custom machine guards.
Familiarity with Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and risk assessment methods.
Technical training or certification in machining, industrial safety, or mechanical engineering.

Ability to stand, bend, reach, and lift up to 50 lbs. for extended periods.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position, and the hours are Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. with overtime, as necessary.
