Job Description

The Company

Dexcom Corporation (NASDAQ DXCM) is a pioneer and global leader in continuous glucose monitoring (CGM). Dexcom began as a small company with a big dream: To forever change how diabetes is managed. To unlock information and insights that drive better health outcomes. Here we are 25 years later, having pioneered an industry. And we're just getting started. We are broadening our vision beyond diabetes to empower people to take control of health. That means personalized, actionable insights aimed at solving important health challenges. To continue what we've started: Improving human health.

We are driven by thousands of ambitious, passionate people worldwide who are willing to fight like warriors to earn the trust of our customers by listening, serving with integrity, thinking big, and being dependable. We've already changed millions of lives and we're ready to change millions more. Our future ambition is to become a leading consumer health technology company while continuing to develop solutions for serious health conditions. We'll get there by constantly reinventing unique biosensing-technology experiences. Though we've come a long way from our small company days, our dreams are bigger than ever. The opportunity to improve health on a global scale stands before us.

The Director, R&D, India Site Leader is a senior leader responsible for assisting in the building, scaling, and sustaining of a highly effective, high‑capability R&D team with a strong, inclusive, and mission‑driven culture. This role represents the spirit, values, and operating principles of Dexcom and ensures the India R&D team has an outstanding place to do meaningful, high‑impact work.

While technically capable across Software, Firmware, Verification, Data Science, and AI disciplines, this leader does not direct day‑to‑day engineering execution or own product quality. Instead, they enable functional excellence through strong leadership, operational rigor, and cultural stewardship.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Act as a senior leader, in partnership with the Commercial site head for the India R&D team, accountable for R&D site performance, culture, capability growth, and operational effectiveness.
  • Build and sustain a high‑performance, inclusive culture focused on trust, accountability, learning, and patient impact, aligned with Dexcom’s mission and values.
  • Serve as a visible, trusted leader and ambassador of Dexcom culture across the India site and local country leadership team.
  • Partner with global R&D functional leaders to ensure teams at the India site are well supported, well aligned, and operating within Dexcom policies, regulatory expectations, and security and privacy requirements.
  • Maintain broad technical fluency to engage credibly with senior engineering leaders across Software, Firmware, Verification, Data Science, and AI, without directing daily technical decisions or execution.
  • Serve as an escalation point for site‑level R&D issues including organizational health, resourcing constraints, cross‑functional friction, and systemic impediments to team effectiveness.
  • Use data and leading indicators to assess R&D site health, engagement, capability maturity, and operational performance.
  • Lead the R&D site strategy and growth planning, including workforce planning, capability development, and capacity scaling.
  • Own R&D site‑level operational responsibilities including financial management, budget stewardship, facilities and infrastructure planning, local government representative and business continuity, partnering closely with the future commercial leader.
  • Act as liaison between R&D India site and US based global leaders for site support functions of IT, product and facility logistics, HR, & finance, particularly during first years of scaling.
  • Partner closely with HR on talent attraction, development, retention, and succession planning for the R&D roles at the site.
  • Foster strong collaboration between the India R&D and global Dexcom R&D teams, ensuring alignment, trust, and effective communication.

Experience and Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline required; advanced degree preferred.
  • 15+ years of experience in technology‑driven organizations, with 10+ years leading large, multi‑disciplinary teams, organizations, or sites.
  • Demonstrated leader experience scaling local India R&D or technology sites in a global environment.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Proven track record of building and scaling high‑capability engineering organizations through strong leadership of teams rather than through direct technical ownership.
  • Broad technical credibility across modern software and system development environments sufficient to work with senior technical leaders.
  • Strong business and financial acumen, including budgeting, investment planning, and trade‑off decision‑making.
  • Experience leading organizational growth, operational maturity, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Outstanding communication skills, with the ability to clearly represent site priorities, organizational health, and capability maturity to executive leadership.
  • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills, with the ability to influence across functions and geographies without formal authority.
  • Comfort operating in a dynamic, performance‑oriented environment with high expectations.
  • High attention to detail, strong judgment, and the ability to operate independently with minimal supervision.
  • Willingness and ability to travel as needed.

This role is critical to Dexcom’s long‑term success and is designed for a leader who is passionate about people, culture, and building world‑class R&D environments that deliver meaningful impact for patients.
